From N69 to A2: a steady partner in infra

Fiers Luyksgestel's involvement in the widening of the A2 between the Het Vonderen and Kerensheide interchanges is no accident. It is the result of a long-term and close cooperation with Boskalis. That cooperation began with the N69 project, continued with the Kempenbaan and has now developed into a permanent relationship within the A2 project. “Over the years we have proven ourselves to be a reliable and flexible partner that moves with the dynamics of large infrastructure projects and is always ready when needed,” says a visibly proud Jasper Fiers.

Fiers Luyksgestel is present on the project every day with a permanent core of equipment and people. “These include a crawler crane, earthworkers and a tractor with a flatbed trailer, as well as additional resources such as a water barrel for cleaning and spraying roads, dump trucks, a road plate truck and a mini-excavator. This permanent workforce allows us to move quickly and respond immediately to schedule changes or unexpected situations.”

Day and night

During large-scale weekend closures, Fiers says, it really becomes clear what that means. “For example, during the last major weekend closure in late 2025, we were there with no less than three crawler cranes, two mobile cranes, three tippers, a road plate truck and a flatbed trailer for moving equipment. With 17 men, we worked long shifts, day and night. Heavy work, but exactly where we make a difference. But even outside those large-scale closures, we regularly rotate nights and weekends, often for relatively minor interventions, where we flexibly jump in with both crawler cranes and earthworkers.”

Anything goes

The strength of the family business lies mainly in flexibility. ‘Call today, we'll be there tomorrow. No is not an answer with us. Our slogan is not for nothing: “anything goes,‘’ says Fiers, who backs this up with an example. ”For example, it turned out earlier during a weekend that too few PVC bends had been ordered. Normally that is almost impossible to solve during the weekend, but thanks to our short lines of communication with suppliers, including private ones, we still managed to arrange and deliver a large number of bends to site. That's our added value: moving quickly and solving last-minute problems.“

Since the N69 project, our infrastructure division has grown significantly and we are working intensively with Boskalis, says Fiers. “That cooperation is going extremely well on both sides. We know each other through and through, also outside in the field. In addition to infrastructure, we also do a lot of contract work, cultural engineering and forestry, transportation and emergency services for various municipalities. From a breakdown in a sewage pumping station to a sinkhole, an overturned traffic sign or oil spill cleanup: when the municipality calls, we go out.”
