These are the objectives of the various parties involved in the overall solution 'Grenscorridor N69'. Good accessibility and circulation in this Dutch-Belgian border region are crucial for the Brainport region.
The N69, which now runs straight through Valkenswaard and Waalre, is causing a lot of inconvenience there. Unsafe situations arise because trucks drive into the shopping streets. Local traffic is hindered by congestion and cut-through traffic. The current capacity of the road network in this area is clearly no longer sufficient for the ever-increasing growth of (freight) vehicles.
On behalf of the Province of North Brabant, Boskalis is constructing the new provincial road and engaged BUKO Infrasupport to carry out the necessary (temporary) traffic measures. BUKO Infrasupport is an independent professional specialist, whose years of expertise and state-of-the-art traffic measures ensure the safety of road workers and road users. Niels Meerkerk, regional manager South-East at BUKO: "With an office in Eindhoven and local familiarity, we are close to the source. We have good contacts with road authorities and in case of emergencies or unexpected situations, we can respond quickly. Because we are also involved in other regional projects, we have insight into abnormal traffic situations in the region to which we can respond early."
All the more reason to have BUKO Infrasupport join the project early on. "Frequent consultations were held to arrive at the right phasing and implementation methods together with Boskalis," says Bas Hornman, project manager for the South-East region (Eindhoven). "In doing so, BUKO's goal is always to optimize traffic flow and safety in temporary traffic situations."
In consultation with Boskalis' traffic manager and operations, BUKO produced drawings detailing various road sections for each phase. At a number of locations, where the new N69 crosses existing roads, bypasses will be constructed, giving Boskalis the space to build the structures planned at these locations. "From the moment the first shovel goes into the ground, we come into the picture and take measures," Hornman says. "Think of the timely announcement of traffic detour, using signs and our text vans. But also providing roadside barriers and the safe arrangement of entrances and exits for work traffic." Meerkerk adds: "Not to mention taking care of temporary lighting and temporary marking, as part of the overall picture. We are known for delivering at the back what we promise at the front: providing timely and tidy traffic measures so that work can be done safely and traffic is inconvenienced as little as possible."
"In addition to providing the temporary signage, we may also provide the layout of the new road, such as permanent RVV signage, roadside bollards, hectometer signs and final signage." Hornman: "Most of the alignment is already in place. In April is the first closure to make a connection to this new section of road. Several more closures and phases will follow over the course of the year until eventually the complete road is open to traffic." Meerkerk concludes, "We are proud of our long-standing partnership with Boskalis, working together nationwide in various regions. In this project, together we are ensuring that Grenscorridor N69 is ready for the future!"
