After another bone-chillingly dry summer, it is becoming more and more clear that we need to focus more and more on collecting and reusing the rainwater that is so necessary for us. But we must also commit to systems that prevent us from using clean drinking water in situations where rainwater will also suffice. Disconnecting, treating, infiltrating and buffering rainwater are disciplines in which Nering Bögel has been involved for decades and in which it has gained the necessary experience in numerous situations and projects.

Nering Bögel feels it is an obligation to keep developing and looking for new products that meet today's requirements and situations coming from the market. Hence, the TUBAO buffer tanks are a very welcome addition to the already extensive program. This storage system manufactured in France is based on the principle of utilizing tube volumes. The "tanks" are available in various sizes and available in galvanized sheet steel or HDPE. "To give you an idea of the volumes, the largest tube diameter is as much as 3 meters," says Richard Janssen, director-owner of Nering Bögel. "The system is relatively easy and quick to install and suitable for various applications such as retention for direct water reuse as well as for the deployment of high-quality fire water for the benefit of sprinkler systems."

Commissioned by Heylen Warehouses from Herentals Belgium, Nering Bögel, in collaboration with TUBAO, has supplied the rainwater buffer system for the Logistic Mill 21 Campus project in Weert. This large-scale campus consists of a modern distribution and storage center with a total of 118,085 m² of warehouse, including roof area. "The development of this prestigious project consists of two 'blocks' through which a green lung with 100-year-old trees meanders," Janssen explains. "The municipality of Weert is a very green and tree-rich municipality. Therefore, incorporating and applying trees and greenery as much as possible was an important requirement here. Given the gigantic roof surface of the complex, it was of course obvious to collect the rainwater from this and use it to irrigate the green surroundings, among other things." The eight galvanized, steel buffer tanks, each with a volume of 100 m³, make it possible to collect substantial volumes of rainwater and buffer it for longer periods of time. This satisfies the wishes and requirements of the municipality of Weert in two ways: there is no unnecessary overloading of the sewer system with clean rainwater and the green surroundings are provided with water in a natural way.

According to Janssen, the TUBAO system can be widely used not only to buffer rainwater, but also to collect contaminated water. "This water can then possibly be disposed of safely or still be treated from storage so that it can be reused. Another big advantage of the TUBAO system is that the tanks are installed underground and are load-bearing for heavy traffic. As a result, no valuable space is lost. Nering Bögel and TUBAO will be happy to assist you during engineering and making the right choice for your rainwater buffer system."
