In a world where projects are becoming increasingly complex and clients need more visual substantiation, Meet BV went looking for a valuable addition to its measurement work. They found that addition in the Looq Platform. This immediately made them the first Looq customer in the Benelux. They have now been using the platform for six months to their complete satisfaction. Ruud Mantel, director of Meet BV: “It almost sounds like an advertising story, but this was the first time that a device offered more than it promised. The high accuracy and reliability, combined with working on the basis of photogrammetry, is a golden combination for us.”
Land surveying and consulting firm Meet BV is a compact firm with a core team of eleven specialists. This small scale is a conscious choice: in this way the company remains flexible and can respond quickly to market demands. Meet BV distinguishes itself by having three disciplines completely in-house: land surveying, water bottom measurements and drone deployment. Where necessary, the team is supplemented by specialized professionals. Clients include large Dutch dredgers, surface mineral extractors (sand, gravel, clay), contractors in the GWW sector, engineering firms and (semi-)governmental authorities.
The search for a new measurement solution did not come out of nowhere. In practice, Meet BV ran into two distinct challenges. “Clients are increasingly asking for a visual image of what we are measuring,” Ruud explains. “We did use a separate photo camera, but that was not an integrated solution. In addition, the content of assignments is becoming more complex. A surveyor gets more and more different objects to measure, each with their own specific data needs.”
That's when the Looq Platform came into the picture: an innovative way of surveying based on photogrammetry. What sets the system apart is the smart combination of AI-driven image recognition, high accuracy and ease of use. Complex spatial data are collected and processed at lightning speed, with minimal manual operations. Especially working with camera images instead of lasers appealed to Ruud. Still, he was initially critical. “We were the first in the Netherlands to use the Looq Platform and Q-camera in 2025. For us, but also for Geometius, it was new. I was honestly skeptical. So we tested the system extensively, including in dense, dark forests and in large halls and buildings - locations where traditional equipment often struggles. To our great surprise, Looq generally worked well there.”

During the testing phase, the Meet BV team discovered even more advantages. For example, surveying a road turned out to be considerably more efficient and safer with the portable Looq Q-camera, equipped with four high-resolution cameras that provide virtually 360-degree coverage.
“You walk at walking pace twice along a road, and the device measures 20 to 25 meters to the left and right of you. With traditional equipment, you have to walk back and forth several times to record everything. Now you're done in one go. And because the system works without active controls, the surveyor has his hands and eyes free. In addition, you don't have to enter the road or bike path. That works a lot safer, especially in situations with traffic.”
Meanwhile, Meet BV has deployed the Looq Platform on several projects, including during preparatory work for a dike reinforcement. This involves collecting a large amount of data from a variety of elements: structures, houses, fences, trees and other objects on and around the dike.
“Everything has to be recorded in detail. With the Q-camera you walk along the dike a few times and you have all the necessary data. The great thing is that all parties involved get their information from the same data set. Previously, several people went into the field to collect data separately. Now one measurement round is sufficient. That makes a huge difference in time and costs.”
The Looq Platform also allows Meet BV to take on more complex assignments, especially when a lot of coordination is required. “We don't need to have in-depth technical knowledge of a complex infrastructural object to still record it in detail. The recordings are so accurate that clients can retrieve the desired data themselves via a link in the Looq environment.”
This also offers advantages for the client, according to Ruud. “It is no longer necessary to specify in advance exactly what needs to be considered during measurement. Any additional questions can easily be answered afterwards, without the need to re-measure. This significantly reduces the chance of miscommunication.”

A good example is a project for a municipality with sewage and water problems. The desire was to map much of a residential area in detail. “The complexity was in the amount of different elements: manhole covers, trash cans, paths to front doors, driveways to garages. The chances of missing something are high. With the Looq Q camera, we walked through the entire neighborhood and had all the necessary images at once. If later, for example, it is necessary to find out what type of manhole with what manhole number is located in a specific section of road, that information can easily be extracted from the Looq environment - without additional fieldwork.”
The fact that the Looq Platform collects enormous amounts of data in a short period of time is a great strength. At the same time, that also brings with it a new challenge: How do you extract exactly the information you need?
Ruud puts it aptly, “You actually have a whole universe of data, from which you have to find three red dwarf planets at 5,000 light years away. Searching and finding that data now takes us even more time, but eventually that should be faster and easier at the push of a button.”
That next step is being taken together. In this, Meet BV is working closely with Looq and Geometius to make the unlocking and filtering of data ever smarter. The platform is continuously developing. Ruud: “Everything to do with AI is never really finished. It keeps moving. But the most important thing is that this solution already offers clear added value for us and for our clients.”
