The Science-Based Targets (SBT) initiative represents the most far-reaching goals in CO₂ emission reduction. "We are enormously proud to have joined this important network. With this step, we want to make a concrete contribution to the agreements in the Paris climate agreement," said Tanja Lendzion, CEO Antea Group Netherlands.
Affiliated organizations can choose a climate pathway appropriate for limiting warming to 1.5 ̊C or 2.0 ̊C. Antea Group chooses the highest ambition level: emission reductions matching warming of 1.5 ̊C. "We were already certified for the highest rung of the CO₂ performance ladder, but the SBTs call for even more ambitious measures. Among other things, we are going to drastically reduce our travel footprint, make our lease car fleet 100% electric, and continue to challenge our employees to make our operations more sustainable. We also consider it important to be able to advise and support our clients properly in this regard so that together we can make an even greater impact," says Marijke Frielink, Change Manager Sustainability.
With this, Antea Group wants to make a concrete contribution to the agreements laid down in the Paris Climate Accord to keep the world livable for people and animals; for the current generation, but especially for future generations. The climate ambition fits into the 1001-day plan: the program through which Antea Group will invest in innovation, sustainability and being a good employer in the coming years.
Science-Based Targets are a way to make climate ambitions and climate actions concrete and comparable between different organizations. The Science Based Targets are an initiative of the United Nations, the World Resources Institute (WRI), CDP and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and are intended to ensure drastic reductions in greenhouse gases to slow global warming.
