Help bring the HOV bus lane between Schiphol and Noordwijk to life—a multifaceted project that brings together civil engineering, infrastructure, and systems. As part of the IPM team, you’ll help shape the technical direction and ensure quality, safety, and feasibility. You’ll bridge the gap between design and implementation, collaborate with various partners, and, under the guidance of a senior technical manager, take on increasing responsibility. In this way, you’ll contribute to sustainable mobility while also advancing your own professional development.

Your Job 
You’ll be working on a new, dedicated high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) bus lane between Schiphol and Noordwijk, including a movable bridge over the Ringvaart canal in Haarlemmermeer. The project includes, among other things, relocating cables and pipes and preparing the subgrade for construction. You’ll ensure that all technical components come together seamlessly.

As part of the IPM team, you’ll work closely with the environmental manager and the senior technical manager to ensure that the correct technical requirements are included in the contract. To this end, we work with Relatics and follow the principles of Systems Engineering. For specialized expertise in the technical disciplines, you’ll consult with our in-house technical and management advisors and receive support from an engineering firm.

In consultation with the senior technical manager, you’ll determine which parts of the project you’ll take on independently. As you continue to develop and get to know the organization, you’ll be able to take on more and more tasks on your own. You’re in charge of your own development!  

You’ll switch between planning and execution. At the office, you’ll work on technical issues related to design choices, interface projects, the routing of cables and pipes, and coordinating technical requirements with our project partners, such as the Municipality of Haarlemmermeer, the Rijnland Water Board, and the Amsterdam Transport Region. You identify technical risks and ensure they are managed, and you make careful design choices to ensure the design can be safely implemented. Once construction begins (expected in 2028), you’ll be on-site to see plans become reality and make adjustments as needed. If technical challenges or changes arise, you’ll quickly analyze the situation, coordinate with the contractor, cost experts, and technical advisors, and provide well-considered recommendations to the contract manager. 

What makes this project particularly interesting is that it involves a wide variety of technical disciplines (the design and construction of a new movable bridge and a high-occupancy vehicle lane) and that it is also organizationally complex because we are collaborating with various parties, meaning the technical requirements do not come solely from our own organization. Involving the future operators is crucial for a seamless handover at the end of the project. You’ll be working on a sustainable public transit connection and applying innovative technologies. In this way, you’ll not only be building infrastructure but also developing your own skills as a technical manager. 

Here's what we offer

• A gross monthly salary between €4,513.02 and €6,369.30 (scale 11) based on a 36-hour workweek. This does not include the Individual Choice Budget of approximately 22% of your gross monthly salary, which you can use, among other things, to exchange for additional days off.
• A budget of €6,000 every 5 years for training. In addition, there are other learning opportunities, because your professional development is important to us. You can also use part of the budget to stay energetic and fit on the job.
• An annual pay raise of 3%, up to the top of your pay scale.
• A good pension plan to which the province contributes.
• Full reimbursement for commuting and business travel when using public transportation.
• A one-year contract, with the intention of offering you a permanent contract at the end of that year.

You’ll be working in the Infrastructure sector. About 80 in-house and external professionals work here. You and your colleagues will maintain and upgrade infrastructure throughout North Holland. It’s a challenging task in one of the most densely populated provinces in the Netherlands, involving many partners—including municipalities, the Amsterdam Transport Region, water boards, Rijkswaterstaat, and ProRail. • Strong communication skills: You can clearly convey complex technical information and switch effortlessly between different stakeholders, from colleagues to contractors. 
• Decisive: You make well-considered decisions when faced with unexpected technical challenges and maintain a clear overview in complex situations. 
• Aware of the broader context; you recognize various interests and political sensitivities and know how to handle them with care. 

Furthermore, you have: 

• At least an associate's degree in a relevant field, such as civil engineering. 
• Several years of experience in technical management for infrastructure projects.  
• Experience working in IPM teams and on single or multiple multidisciplinary projects. 
• Knowledge of systems engineering and experience working with Relatics is a plus.
