Civil Engineering Project Manager

In Meppel, we’re working with courage, expertise, and pride to create a future-proof living environment. You’ll ensure that projects truly add value for our residents.

Civil Engineering Project Manager
Meppel | 28–36 hours per week | Bachelor's degree | Max. €6,022

Your Challenge

You provide direction for projects that make a visible difference

As a Civil Engineering Project Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind a wide range of civil engineering projects in public spaces. From reconstructions and redesigns to new area developments: you’ll ensure that plans become a reality. You manage projects from the initial concept and design through to implementation and completion, continuously monitoring quality, scheduling, budget, and risks.

You bring together technology, the environment, and people

You work at the heart of the community. That’s why you understand better than anyone how important effective collaboration and communication are. You organize engagement processes with residents, business owners, and other stakeholders, and ensure that their interests are reconciled into a widely supported solution. You also keep the board, management, and stakeholders informed in a timely manner about developments, decisions, and progress.

You stay in control of both content and finances

You critically evaluate designs and specifications and ensure that technical decisions align with the project objectives. In addition, you draw up financial frameworks and statements of requirements, and oversee the tendering process from preparation through award. Thanks to your oversight and guidance, projects remain feasible, executable, and future-proof.

You’ll be working holistically to shape the living environment of tomorrow

Together with colleagues from various fields, you ensure that all aspects of a project fit together seamlessly. You move easily between technical, policy, and administrative matters and know how to keep complex projects organized and manageable.

Here's what to bring

You are an experienced civil engineering professional who makes a difference through your expertise and personality. You have a solid foundation and know how to move projects forward by maintaining a broad perspective, demonstrating sensitivity, and bringing energy to the work. Additionally:

  • You have a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • You have experience in the civil sector, preferably with municipalities or other government agencies.
  • You are familiar with project-based work and feel comfortable navigating the various project phases.
  • You have an interest in agricultural engineering and the broader context of the physical environment.
  • You have strong communication skills—both verbal and written—and are able to explain complex matters clearly.
  • You’re solution-oriented, energetic, and proactive: you see what needs to be done and take action.
  • You possess tactical insight and political sensitivity, and you feel at home in an administrative environment.

Here's what you'll get from us

At the Municipality of Meppel, you’ll find the best of both worlds: it’s large enough to help you achieve your goals, yet offers a work environment where colleagues know each other and collaboration comes naturally. In addition:

  • You can expect a salary of up to €6,022 gross per month for a 36-hour workweek (scale 10a). In addition to your salary, you’ll receive an Individual Choice Budget of 17,05% for a gym membership, extra pay, or a bicycle.
