Project Manager, Supervisor

Would you like to make a visible contribution to the design of public spaces? Then we’re looking for you!

Project Manager / Supervisor

In Meppel, we work with courage, expertise, and pride to create a future-proof living environment. For our civil engineering projects, we are seeking a Project Manager / Site Supervisor. In this role, you will be involved in the entire process surrounding the preparation and execution of complex, integrated civil engineering projects. You will ensure that projects truly add value for our residents.

Your Challenge

Would you like to make a visible contribution to the design of public spaces? As a Project Manager / Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in civil engineering, hydraulic engineering, and traffic engineering projects. You’ll be involved from the planning phase through to completion, ensuring that projects are carried out safely, to a high standard, and within schedule and budget.

Starting in the design and preparation phase, you’ll contribute ideas on technical solutions, constraints, and feasibility. In doing so, you’ll collaborate with colleagues, residents, contractors, engineering firms, utility companies, water districts, and other stakeholders. Thanks to your expertise, plans are not only conceived but also successfully implemented.

During the project, you’ll take the lead. You’ll act as the project manager, monitor the schedule, quality, and finances, and oversee the work being done in public spaces. You’ll serve as the point of contact for all parties involved and ensure that everything runs smoothly.

This is what you will do

  • Providing advice on and preparing civil engineering, hydraulic engineering, and transportation engineering projects.
  • Reviewing designs, specifications, drawings, and reports from external consulting and engineering firms.
  • Providing leadership and oversight during the implementation of projects.
  • Monitoring scheduling, quality, safety, and budget.
  • Coordinating the work of contractors, utility companies, and other involved parties.
  • Handling contract and specifications administration.
  • Identifying discrepancies and providing advice on contractual amendments.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Requesting and evaluating bids and advising on the awarding of contracts.

Here's what to bring

You are a decisive professional who maintains a clear overview, works independently, and easily balances different priorities. You have strong communication skills, are decisive, and know how to win people over with your advice.

In addition, you have:

  • An MBO+/HBO level of work and thinking, preferably in the field of Civil Engineering.
  • Knowledge of RAW methodology and UAVs.
  • Experience as a project manager and/or supervisor in the public space sector.
  • Experience working with contractors, consulting and engineering firms, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience working within a municipal organization is a plus.

Here's what you'll get from us

At the Municipality of Meppel, you’ll find the best of both worlds: it’s large enough to help you achieve your goals, yet offers a work environment where colleagues know each other and collaboration comes naturally. In addition:

  • You can expect a salary of up to €5,096 gross per month for a 36-hour workweek (scale 9). In addition to your salary, you’ll receive an Individual Choice Budget of 17,05% for a gym membership, extra pay, or a bicycle.
