Doosan has launched the new DX85R-7 8-ton mini-excavator. The latest addition to the next generation of Stage V mini-excavators in the Doosan range. The DX85R-7 reduced rear swing (RTS) excavator is designed to offer maximum performance, optimum stability, greater versatility, increased operator comfort, controllability, durability and ease of maintenance & service.
(Note: Hyundai Doosan Infracore (HDI) is replacing the DOOSAN brand on its construction machines and introducing the new DEVELON brand since 14-03-2023).

The DX85R-7 utilizes a new improved upper platform that offers greater durability and ruggedness and a different arrangement of boom swing cylinders, resulting in a larger boom swing angle of 60o. Together, the RTS design and boom swing angle make the DX85R-7 ideal for work in tight spaces for projects in construction, natural areas, rental, agriculture, recycling, waste and many other applications. The bucket digging force of the DX85R-7 is 6.7 tons and this is combined with a 6.6-ton drawbar pull, while the travel speed is 2.9 km/h in the low range and 4.8 km/h in the high range.
The DX85R-7 not only features the new global style common to all new Doosan mini-excavators from 2 to 10 tons, it is also powered by the Doosan D24 Stage V diesel engine that delivers 48.5 kW (65 hp) of power at 2,100 rpm. As a result, the DX85R-7 excavator offers excellent fuel economy that is among the best in its class. It combines exceptional power and high torque at low rpm, 9% more compared to the previous DX85R-3 model. A combination of the diesel oxidation catalyst and the diesel particulate filter aftertreatment method ensures StageV compliance. The diesel particulate filter offers a 25% longer life of 5,000 hours compared to the DX85R-3.

With a height to the top of the cab of more than 2.6 m and a width of 2.25 m, the new cab on the DX85R-7 is extremely spacious and comfortable, providing excellent operator comfort and controllability. The cab has a full glass access door to maximize the operator's view on that side of the machine from the cab. The four standard LED work lights on the cab further enhance visibility.
The main features of the new cabin are:
Protected by a (Faling Object Protection Structure - FOPS) protection structure, operator safety in the cab is further optimized by a standard included rear view camera or an optional 360° camera system that gives a choice of five display views (Bird view , Rear, Birdview + Right, Rear + Corner and 3D).
The upgraded HVAC system is the best on the market and offers more vents for conducting hot and cold air, including grilles on the front and rear pillars that together help improve system performance. Larger vents are used to ensure direct and sufficient airflow for the operator. Opening/closing the grilles can be done manually.
The HVAC system and DAB Audio can be controlled via the 8-inch touchscreen, and the image of the optional rearview camera can be displayed on this screen. The monitor also shows the pressure speed setting, which can be controlled in 10 steps with the thumb-wheel joystick thanks to the newly applied EPPR (Electro Hydraulic Proportional Pressure Reduction) valve for rotary and 2-way functions.
A new series of main control valves (MCV) is used in the DX85R-7, which provides improved performance by reducing internal pressure loss compared with the DX85R-3. The new MCV reduces energy waste and pressure loss by more than 40%, significantly reducing operating costs. The central location of the MCV also improves convenience for maintenance operations and helps optimize work visibility from the cab.
An improved working range results from the new position of the boom foot point, which has been moved 100 mm forward and 50 mm upward. The DX85R-7 also offers increased lift capacity and stability due to a number of design changes, including the extension of the rocker arm by 127 mm (2,952 mm), a redesigned undercarriage with a lower ground approach angle, a larger swing radius at the rear and a dual top roller and dual tread roller for both the rubber and steel tracks. Improvements to the DX85R-7 have increased the jacking height/excavation depth and lifting angle. A newly designed molded 1.45-ton counterweight also provides excellent machine balance and stability while working.
The DX85R-7 offers optimum accessibility for maintenance from the ground via a 3-piece tailgate cover that provides easy access and maintenance. A well-designed mesh cover is provided to prevent debris entry. The highly efficient pre-cleaner and two-stage air cleaning filters are easy to service and disassemble using clips.
Standard on the DX85R-7 mini-excavator is Doosan's latest DoosanCONNECT system, which provides a telematics management system for the excavator by collecting data from sensors on the machine.
