At two strategic locations - at Mebin Born and at the Roosteren exit - Kok Lexmond is working on crushing concrete rubble and producing specific asphalt products, mostly from the A2 motorway. This makes the company an important link in the circular processing of building materials in the project.
Our core activities consist of crushing asphalt, rubble, old road structures and concrete, and producing materials for use as foundation construction under the new road, says Marco de Rijke of Kok Lexmond. Because of the phasing and planned widening with additional lanes, more material is needed than can be harvested from the project. “This is why, among other things, milling asphalt is being supplied by ship at the Born site. In this way, we ensure that sufficient circular material is available in the depots.”

According to De Rijke, Kok Lexmond works in phases and efficiently. “Based on specific client requirements, we produce different grades of stabilization material in stock. The crushed material is reused as rubble foundation under the road. While producing on stock requires space and tight logistical planning, it ensures maximum flexibility and continuity in execution. We have proven this several times on this project, including prior to the major weekend closure last year. After all, according to the Environment Act, we are not allowed to break ground on weekends unless there is a high exception in the public interest. By stockpiling in a timely manner, projects can still proceed on schedule with the use of circular building materials.”
Crushing and producing stabilization material is our specialty, and our machinery is fully equipped for that, says De Rijke. “We work on projects throughout the Netherlands, including in an earlier stage the Afsluitdijk and the A12. Our added value lies mainly in the fact that we don't shy away from complex issues. We actively think along with our clients and have built up a strong network over the years. We are hard workers, stand by what we do and are proud of the many projects to which we have contributed. That trust is the greatest appreciation for us.‘
