Van Beek Infra Groep converts N264 traffic circles to intelligent traffic control systems

Van Beek Infra Groep B.V. has a strong reputation for realizing environmentally friendly projects. Based in Etten-Leur, the company has a broad portfolio of services, including the construction and maintenance of roads, the installation of sewers and street lighting, and the implementation of charging stations and traffic control installations (VRI). For the N264 conversion, it is responsible for all associated excavation and cable work for the traffic control installations, including the installation of both small and large mast material.

"The N264 was a challenging project given the need to improve traffic flow while minimizing the impact on the local community," says Canip Ilhan, owner of Van Beek Infra Groep. "Together with BAM, we converted two traffic circles into intersections with intelligent traffic control systems (i-VRIs). In practice, this means that we are responsible for the groundwork and cabling of the new i-VRIs. We also install the mast material and the VRI and perform all the work for the new public lighting. For this we have deployed four VRI-OV shifts, consisting of a foreman, foreman, machinist and earthworkers."

Over the years, the company has expanded its expertise into complex systems such as traffic control systems and the installation of charging stations.

Continuous work thanks to four electric taps

The biggest challenges for Van Beek Infra Groep were maintaining traffic flow during the work and meeting the requirements of emission-free work. "All projects are nice, but converting traffic circles into traffic control installations is and remains a nice job. There was also a certain time pressure, after all you are working together with the civil contractor. The biggest challenge was working without emissions. It was the first time for us to carry out a completely emission-free project, which meant that all machines and vehicles used had to be electric. In addition, we also used energy-efficient installations for the N264."

Sustainability and quality as a common thread

As far as Canip is concerned, this project shows its dedication to innovation and commitment to reducing its ecological footprint. Sustainability therefore runs like a thread through the work of Van Beek Infra Groep. The company began forty years ago with basic infrastructure projects. Over the years, it has expanded its expertise to complex systems such as traffic control installations and the installation of charging stations, which is essential in the transition to renewable energy. "We are aware of our value, values and added value and as an organization have always focused on innovation and sustainability. In addition, we have a team of skilled and experienced people," Canip says. "We strongly believe in developing our people. For example, every year we train new talents through a BBL training program and provide support where needed. This creates an engaged and loyal team, which is crucial to the success of our projects." Canip speaks highly of the cooperation with BAM. "We share a vision of quality and sustainability that was essential to the success of this project. We have proven that we can manage and successfully complete complex projects with attention to both environmental impact and impact on local residents. We are therefore proud of our motto: say what we do and do what we said."
