Registration for the Technische Kontakt Dagen (TKD) has opened and immediately the phone of fair organizer Frits Kuijper was red-hot and his mailbox filled up. Apparently, the equipment sector is eagerly looking forward to this largest demonstration exhibition in Western Europe, which will take place from June 9 to 11 on the Almere beach.
The TKD 2022 brings together large and small players in the field of earthmoving, road construction and recycling equipment or related specialties, allowing exhibition visitors to test and compare on the spot. In addition to safety, sustainability is a key focus at this 28th edition. "For now, there is no real theme yet, but it should be clear that a lot of attention will be paid to the transition to emission-free and low emission machines," said Kuijper, who took office in 2019 as exhibition manager for this event, which had to be canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the strict measures surrounding the corona pandemic.
"It has been a while since the industry was able to present itself to the market through this unique stage," BMWT director Jan Hommes also knows. Together with Bouwend Nederland and Cumela, BMWT acts as the cartworker for this biennial festival, which was held for the last time in 2018. "Both visitors and exhibitors yearn to meet again at a fair like the TKD. Quite some time has passed by now and the sector has certainly not been idle. Everyone is excited to showcase their showcase in the field of sustainability and machine development."
After two postponements, the organization is confident that the upcoming edition will be another great fair. Hommes: "There are many innovations in the pipeline and everyone is looking forward to presenting the latest trends and developments in this exciting sector. Hopefully Covid will not throw a spanner in the works again, but that remains to be seen. For now it looks positive and from the first reactions we can see that many exhibitors are just as enthusiastic to make it a success. If the omens are not deceiving, we expect to welcome just under two hundred exhibitors again."
Kuijper adds: "I want to make the metaphor of cows being allowed out to pasture again for the first time; everyone is hopping with enthusiasm. My phone and mailbox really burst. Our aim is to present something unique in terms of the experience, without compromising the unique DNA of the TKD. I can't yet reveal what exactly it will look like, because first we have to gather all the building blocks to make the cake as beautiful as possible. What is certain is that we are going to surprise the industry. We're taking a lot on ourselves with this beachfront location, but we're going for gold and making no concessions in terms of quality and ambition."
Since location Nobelhorst - where the last three editions took place - is in use for housing construction, the fair has to move to a new spot in Almere. The Almeerderstrand serves as the setting on Thursday, June 9 (10 a.m.-9 p.m.), Friday, June 10 (10 a.m.-6 p.m.) and Saturday, June 11 (8 a.m.-4 p.m.). Substantially expanded by some 7.8 hectares by 2020, this sandy beach on the IJmeer looks like an ideal event site, with every imaginable amenity and Almere Poort train station within walking distance. "Here Frits' input as an experienced exhibition organizer is clearly reflected," Hommes believes. "The new location adds more intimacy, coziness and dynamics to the fair and should even bring back the atmosphere of the past. All the ingredients are present to make the TKD truly the party of the entire equipment sector again."
