The new Volvo FM was designed with an uncompromising objective in mind: to be the optimal work tool for a wide range of transport tasks, always with the driver at the center.

'Red Dot' is internationally recognized as one of the most sought-after quality labels for good design. The award ceremony was established in 1955 by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany. Today, the Red Dot jury includes some 50 international experts.

The development of the new Volvo FM followed extensive surveys and conversations with customers, which confirmed that the driver contributes significantly to the profitability and image of transport companies. The design team therefore made every effort to design the best mobile office in the industry. This resulted in a versatile truck that is agile, spacious and, above all, safe and comfortable for all drivers.

"The Red Dot Award is fantastic recognition for the creative work of the design team at Volvo Trucks. The award highlights the balanced character of the Volvo FM, an attractive truck that creates value. Through the purposeful design of the body, interior and user experience, we improve the daily lives of our drivers and keep our society running," said Carin Larsson, Chief Designer UX at Volvo Trucks.

The new Volvo FM offers numerous innovations that contribute to higher levels of comfort, safety and productivity. Examples include the spacious new cab and improved visibility thanks to the lowered door line, new rear-view mirrors and the optional passenger angle camera, which improves visibility to the side of the truck. The Volvo FM can also be customized to achieve significant fuel and CO2-savings possible.

The interior attracts attention with a new dashboard and a dynamic 12" high-resolution instrument panel display. The user-friendly interface was designed to simplify driver interaction and minimize distractions when accessing critical information. It is also ready for future updates and connected services.

The Volvo FM's body design emphasizes its versatile nature for a variety of applications. The cab received a new, aerodynamic design with clean, striking lines. The V-shaped headlights make this model instantly recognizable, and the robust design of the radiator grille gives the vehicle a bold, confident look.

The new Volvo FM was launched during 2020, along with the Volvo FH, Volvo FH16 and Volvo FMX. The four new heavy trucks have been in series production since March 2021.
