Yellowstar of Barendrecht is developing new operational systems to control the international rail logistics of the Rail Cargo Group of Austria.
To control its international intermodal transport operations, the Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has commissioned Dutch company Yellowstar to develop a new Transport Management System (TMS) and Terminal Operating System (TOS). RCG is the freight division of ӦBB, the Austrian Railways. The company offers customers a widespread intermodal network for end-to-end logistics throughout Europe and far into Asia. Annually, RCG operates more than 500,000 trains.
The assignment to Yellowstar is the outcome of an extensive European tender. Yohan Kok, Senior Specialist IT Project Management at Rail Cargo Group: "We were looking for a software partner who can offer us a single solution for controlling our entire intermodal operational process in all the countries where we operate. It allows us to merge our system landscape and thus work much more efficiently."
Implementation of the new TMS and TOS will start in Hungary and then continue to be rolled out to other RCG locations and countries during 2020 and 2021. Both systems operate from a single platform to which partners and customers will also have access. These can thus view orders, upload documents and the like themselves via web or EDI. All operational information becomes available to everyone everywhere in the international network. The customer can receive real-time information directly about each step in the transport.
"For Yellowstar, this is the largest project since our inception in 2009," said Yellowstar's Chief Commercial Officer, Rianne Groffen. "Intermodal chains require seamless cooperation between all parties involved. Essential to this are data integration and the smooth cooperation of all involved. Our ambition is to eliminate inefficiencies while increasing the user-friendliness of logistics chains. Spreadsheets and emails are out, connectivity and collaboration in!"
