'Choose the sustainable way'

Wolfswinkel Reiniging's sweepers and road surface cleaners are a familiar sight at many infrastructure projects and at Schiphol Airport. In keeping with the brand promises of the family business - safe, reliable, service-oriented, innovative and sustainable - it has recently become possible for clients to choose the sustainable route: that is, the deployment of an entirely electric sweeper. 

Where we can, we certainly don't neglect sustainability, begins Wim van Wolfswinkel of Wolfswinkel Cleaning. "The biggest gain is in reusing the water for our road surface cleaners. On large projects, we take our mobile recycling plant with us so that we can purify the water on site and put it back to use immediately. And at our new location in Maarsbergen, all rainwater is collected, both from the roof and our grounds. That is used again in our machines. We also process the wastewater and sweeping waste we take in our machines from projects on our own site for reuse."

Green alternative

The next step in sustainability is to green the machinery. "In the sector in which we operate, there are still few green alternatives," Wim acknowledges. "Nevertheless, all our equipment can run on HVO 100 biofuel, good for a reduction in CO2 emissions of up to 90%. And we can also fill up with that at our own location. Furthermore, since March 1 of this year, we have had a RAVO electric sweeper at our disposal. The machine is comparable to the regular version in terms of suction capacity and has already been used successfully on various projects, including at Schiphol Airport and on some smaller projects in Amsterdam. A major advantage is that the electric sweeper can be charged at any public charging station or via a battery box, which is increasingly common in large projects these days."

With this latest addition, we motivate clients to choose the sustainable path, Wim sums up. "And so, as a company, we constantly continue to explore opportunities to become more sustainable in all facets of our operations. We try to lead the way. In all areas. And that is also seen and appreciated by our clients."
