Making renewable energy available where the power grid doesn't go. That is the philosophy of Wattsun. The driving forces behind the company are Koen Olieslagers and Bart Hendriks. Together they came up with a portable and stackable battery system, suitable for equipment with a 230-volt plug. Their slogan is therefore 'Where the power grid ends, Wattsun begins...'.
"Actually, Wattsun was born out of the frustration that a lot of fossil fuel is still being used for power. Think of the many generators that are used," says Olieslagers. "This must and can be done differently. At the time, we looked for a way in which professionals could work off grid with green power. And so we ended up with a stackable and portable battery system. In fact, it is a kind of pop-up power, the sustainable alternative to a generator."
The battery system, the Wattsun Dock, is the basis. It can be used for power in the utility vehicle, on the construction site or from the service van. It is suitable for equipment with a 230-volt plug and thus usable for a coffee maker and laptop as well as a drill, construction lamp or circular saw. Important advantage of this system is that the battery capacity is expandable by stacking. The stackable battery capacity is 7,800 Wh, so you always have enough power on hand. After all, every job is different, and with this you always have enough energy to work carefree, wherever and whenever you want.
Especially in the construction sector, the Wattsun battery system is widely used. For example, partly thanks to Wattsun, the Van Gelder Groep was the first company in the Netherlands to carry out its construction project completely emission-free. Olieslagers: "Because our battery system 100% is emission-free and quiet, it is also ideal for use on inner-city construction sites and in natural areas. Our mission is to make renewable energy mobile and available everywhere. Solar energy fits perfectly into this story. And that is why we have developed a flexible solar panel as an additional charging option for the battery system. This allows you to use renewable power anywhere, even in the most remote locations. Thanks to the solar panels, shelters can also be made sustainable, emission-free and self-sufficient. A generator is no longer needed and you can work anywhere and anytime and generate your own power. How cool is that?"
The Wattsun concept is catching on so well that work is already underway to develop a new battery system with more power and capabilities. "We think along with our customers and help them make the transition to emission-free work. Whether that involves working the construction site or somewhere literally in the field. To this end, we develop products that are easy to use and of high quality, so that you have access to sustainable green power under all circumstances."
Wattsun now has seven years of experience with emission-free on-site power solutions. As a result, the company has become the Dutch partner in the field of off grid energy facilities. "We have intensive contact with our customers. As a result, we know where their needs lie and create customized solutions. We also test new innovations together with loyal customers, so that we remain the right partner now and in the future."
