Safety on the construction site comes first. When it comes to lifting and hoisting equipment and fall protection, BAM Infra Nederland has relied on the high-quality products of Van Gool Hef- en Hijstechniek for more than 35 years. We are involved in almost all BAM projects to supply lifting and hoisting equipment and, where necessary, provide advice and toolbox meetings. This is Mark van Gool, known internally as the 'BAM specialist' and also involved in the HOV in 't Gooi project in that capacity.
Van Gool has been supplying BAM for many decades, and for several years there has even been a framework agreement with the builder. "We are the preferred supplier for BAM when it comes to supplying, testing and certifying lifting and hoisting equipment for both construction and infrastructure projects. For example, we are 'at home' with the new Sea Lock in IJmuiden, almost in our backyard, the New Lock Terneuzen, on the Afsluitdijk, but with BAM we also go up in height with the Zalmhavenentoren in Rotterdam, and we can also be found on the many small projects," Mark says proudly. "We are EKH certified and thus a recognized inspection company in lifting and hoisting equipment. In addition, we have VCA and ISO certifications. In terms of safety, we leave nothing to chance."
BAM is one of our larger customers in construction and infrastructure, Mark continues. "On any construction project where lifting is required, we supply our gear. And if work has to be done at height, we have a wide range of fall protection products, such as belts and lines. We like to think along with our clients to come to an appropriate advice and especially a high-quality and safe solution. We visit most projects on a weekly basis. Every situation is different and requires an appropriate solution. For the HOV in 't Gooi project we are supplying, among other things, chains, steel cables, hoisting belts, fall protection and hoisting beams. When the equipment comes back from rental, it is thoroughly inspected and, if necessary, pulled on our own pulling benches. This is how we keep our rental fleet safe and certified. On behalf of our customers, we regularly provide toolbox meetings and on-site instructions to make people aware of hazards and point out any imperfections, capping standards, etc."
Renting lifting and hoisting products has several advantages, according to Mark. "Clients are always assured of high-quality tested, certified and up-to-date equipment. Moreover, it is also a responsible choice. If products are not used at one customer's site, we make another customer happy with them. In this way, products are put to optimal use. Nevertheless, BAM also has its own lifting equipment. We ensure that this equipment can always be used safely and carry out periodic inspections. Together with BAM, we have also developed a hoisting container, a 3-meter container that is set up as a workshop and in which all hoisting materials are stored during a construction project. By now we have already produced eleven of these containers."
