Specialist in steel construction (water) works and moving works since 1928
Hollandia designs, builds, and maintains complex steel structures (waterworks) and moving structures, such as bridges, locks, weirs, (storm surge) barriers, and special structures. These are activities in which the company is increasingly pushing the boundaries of what steel construction has made possible to date. “We are building in a more specialized and innovative way than ever before,” says Diederik van Rijn, director of Holland Infra. “In addition to craftsmanship and knowledge, this also requires good partners to work with. By joining forces and sharing knowledge, we take care of everything for our clients and complete the entire process: from design to turnkey delivery.”
The Hollandia flag includes subsidiaries such as Hollandia Infra and Hollandia Services. While the former focuses on the construction of new steel structures (including hydraulic structures), Hollandia Services focuses on both regular and major maintenance as well as renovation. Over the years, both companies have built up extensive experience and an impressive track record. Thanks to the combination of skilled employees and a strong market position, in which cooperation, safety, and sustainability are of paramount importance, Hollandia is ready for the future. “In terms of technological innovations, cooperation, and sustainability, we want to be the leading player by 2025,” confirms Ronald van den Berg, director of Hollandia Services, confirming the ambitions.

Its strategic location on open waterways near the ports of Rotterdam makes Hollandia's high-quality production site ideal for a wide range of customers in the construction, offshore, petrochemical, industrial, and shipbuilding sectors. It is an environment in which Hollandia Infra and Hollandia Services achieve great things. When we take a closer look at the two subsidiaries, it becomes clear that Hollandia Infra's craftsmanship is based on extensive knowledge and expertise. “Steel structures and moving parts are becoming increasingly impressive, and the conditions more challenging,” Van Rijn continues. “This forces us to be creative and innovative in terms of design, engineering, project management, manufacturing, preservation, transport, and assembly. We have all these disciplines in-house.”
Hollandia Services is responsible for maintaining the ‘wet infrastructure’ within the Netherlands in reliable condition. By carrying out regular inspections, maintenance, overhauls, and renovations, the specialists ensure that many civil engineering structures remain in optimal technical condition. To this end, Hollandia Services has its own engineering, E&I, and maintenance department, as well as a 24-hour emergency service.

Hollandia's strength lies not only in the fact that it offers all services under one roof. The close cooperation between the two subsidiaries also contributes to this. ‘The overlap between mechanical engineering and E&I is becoming more significant and extensive,“ explains Van den Berg. ”By mastering these disciplines in-house and optimally coordinating the interfaces, we offer the customer a total solution. This has a positive effect on the lead time, the budget, and the end result. The open and transparent nature and the creation of optimal synergy, both internally and in collaboration with external parties, is essential in this regard.“
A good example of the collaboration between Hollandia Infra and Hollandia Services is the Nieuwe Sluis Terneuzen project. Both companies have been involved in this challenging project since the tender phase. As a subcontractor to the Flemish-Dutch contractor consortium Sassevaart (consisting of BAM Infra, Stadsbader Contractors (formerly BAM Contractors) and the Belgian companies DEME and Van Laere), Hollandia supplies and installs various components for the drive systems of the immense lock gates and bascule bridges.
