The Electrical Engineering division within A-Quin plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, continuity and reliability of electrical installations in the construction and infrastructure industry. In a time in which the Netherlands is rapidly electrifying and the requirements from legislation, regulations and insurers are increasing, expert inspection is more important than ever.
Providing insight into infrastructure objects is becoming increasingly important. A-Quin specializes in independent inspections ranging from structural safety to electrical engineering inspections. “We perform a wide range of electrical engineering inspections,” says Wim van Teffelen, team leader electrical engineering department at A-Quin. “These include periodic inspections of existing installations according to NEN 3140 / SCIOS scope 8, completion inspections (NEN 1010) and condition measurement NEN 2767, as well as NEN 3140 inspections, both in the standard variant and in extended frameworks, such as those of the Department of Public Works. We also provide fire safety inspections (SCIOS scope 10) and inspections of solar installations (SCIOS scope 12). Our strength lies in the combination of technical depth, clear reports and practical advice that clients can really get on with.”
A-Quin's electrical engineering team consists of seven certified specialists. “The focus is strongly on SCIOS inspections, but our expertise goes further. For example, we perform NEN 2767 visual inspections to provide insight into the condition of installations, often applied in transition phases or as part of good housekeeping,” Van Teffelen explains. “High-voltage installations (NEN 3840) and filling the role of installation manager are also part of our services.” It is precisely this role of installation manager that clients are increasingly outsourcing to A-Quin. “Many organizations lack the necessary knowledge and capacity in-house. By providing timely and expert inspections, we help manage risks, create safe working environments and prevent process downtime. The result: a grip on assets, clear priorities and informed choices for the future.”

Safety is close to our hearts, says Van Teffelen. “We work safely or we don't work, is our slogan. We are committed to a safe and reliable environment in the Netherlands. In doing so, we are independent. Our goal here is to provide insight and keep objects safe in the Netherlands for its residents. In 2025, we also started sharing knowledge. On location at a number of clients we provide VOP NEN 3140 training and courses, a certification for employees without electrical engineering training who may perform simple, low-risk electrical tasks under supervision. This is how we contribute to safe working and sustainable employability.”
Van Teffelen notes that the demand for electrical engineering expertise is growing. “And that's why we are always looking for new colleagues,” he says. “MBO or HBO educated, starter or experienced professional: at A-Quin you get the chance to work on unique objects such as bridges, locks and tunnels, in places where few people come. You will be part of a close-knit team, have a lot of responsibility and plenty of room to develop yourself through internal training and career opportunities. Do you have a passion for electrical engineering and safety? Then we would like to meet you.”
