PFAS free, fully biodegradable and efficient to use. Here are some of the key benefits of biodegradable lubricants and oils. Switching from regular oil to a biodegradable variant can be done without modifying any machinery. Bernie Dunnewind, managing director of Duport Lubricare, explains how the switch works in practice.
"The right high-quality oil extends the life of (heavy) machines AND the machines need less maintenance," Bernie said. "Moreover, you don't have to replace the oils throughout the life of a machine. So less downtime, less labor and much less use of harmful substances." With over 30 years of experience, Duport Lubricare is a specialist in biodegradable hydraulic oils and lubricants for various industries. They are the official dealer within the Netherlands of the biodegradable MOTOREX oils.
"Because MOTOREX oils are made on the basis of saturated ester liquids, the oil is compatible with all common seals. Modifications to a machine are therefore not necessary and switching from mineral oils to a biodegradable variant is therefore quite easy in practice." Switching to a biodegradable oil such as MOTOREX can be done in two ways. Bernie: "The important thing is to get the 'old' oil out of the machine as much as possible. The cleaner, the better. 'Re-oiling' as we call it, can be done with lubricating oil and without lubricating oil. You drain the machine as much as possible, then fill it halfway with flush oil. For a while you let the machine idle with all hydraulic functions running. Then you drain out all the flushing oil. With the flushing oil, the last bits of "old" oil also come out. The other way is to remove all the oil from the machine and immediately fill it completely with MOTOREX oil, and then slowly squeeze out the remaining old oil, by unscrewing the double-acting cylinders at one end and pushing out the old oil very carefully. This must be done by qualified personnel. For mineral oil, a maximum of 5% may remain, for biodegradable oil a maximum of 2%. We can analyze this." Duport Lubricare also has a special machine available to perform the circular flushing. Companies that want to perform the rinsing themselves (or have it performed) by a qualified and experienced technician on site, can rent this machine.
