For the departments Projects and Consultancy and Urban Development, the municipality of Amstelveen is looking for new colleagues. The development and renewal of the public outdoor space and the facilitation of construction and transformation projects in a large municipality like Amstelveen is a continuous process that is completed as much as possible by ‘our own people’. Given the continuing growth of the ‘suburb of Amsterdam’, project and technical staff are urgently needed.
With over a thousand employees, the Municipality of Amstelveen is a sizeable organization. A quarter of them work in the Projects and Advice and Urban Development departments. Urban Development focuses primarily on facilitating construction projects in the municipality, while the (re)design of public outdoor space is the domain of the Project and Advice department. Both project organizations of the municipality of Amstelveen also provide services to neighboring Aalsmeer and serve a total of more than 120,000 residents.
Amstelveen has grown in phases into the sizeable municipality it is today. So neighborhoods have also been phased. Especially residential neighborhoods that are now 30 to 40 years old are in dire need of maintenance. That means replacing the sewers, changing the paving and tackling the greenery. When one neighborhood is finished, the next one is already up. In short, it is an ongoing process. Separately, people in Amstelveen are maintaining and modifying roads on a larger scale. For example, the busy Bovenkerkerweg road is scheduled for expansion and intersections with traffic control installations are continuously being replaced by traffic circles. Furthermore, a number of large transformation projects are on the agenda and the Nieuw Legmeer business park is being relocated to a location not suitable for housing.
The above are just a few examples of the many projects on the plate of the Projects and Consultancy and Urban Development departments. All developments in the municipality of Amstelveen and neighboring Aalsmeer are led and executed as much as possible by our own project teams, from sketch design and technical investigations to the preparation of specifications, VO, DOs and supervision during execution. In almost all positions, the municipality is looking for project and technical staff. Naturally, there is something in return. In the first place, an incredibly versatile job with many stakeholders in each project. At the municipality, you are the spider in the web.
