New Piling Machine for Inner-City Foundation Work

Custom-designed and built

Inpieq recently developed the largest compact pile driver in its product line. This time, it’s the IFHF6, a compact yet powerful machine designed specifically for foundation work in areas with limited space.

Although the IFHF6 is described within Inpieq as the ‘largest pile driver’ in the product line, it is certainly not a colossal machine. The machine is only 75 centimeters wide and has a maximum transport height of 1.95 meters. It is precisely these compact dimensions that make the machine particularly well-suited for foundation work in urban areas and at hard-to-reach locations. “The demand for compact foundation machines continues to grow,” says Director Frank van Deursen. “Construction sites are getting smaller, inner-city projects require more flexibility, and even in new residential developments, the available workspace is often limited. Machines need to adapt to these conditions.”

Designed for residential foundation work

The IFHF6 was built for Zieleman Heiwerken of Genemuiden. This makes it the second machine that Inpieq has developed for the company. Two years ago, the machine manufacturer delivered the IFP15, a compact pile-driving rig that has proven its worth on construction sites with limited workspace. Zieleman Heiwerken primarily uses the IFHF6 for private projects. Examples include foundation work for additions to row houses or other situations where only a few piles need to be driven at locations that are difficult to access with conventional equipment. Thanks to its compact size, the machine can often easily fit through a garage door or garden gate. With the IFHF66, steel tubular piles can be driven quickly and efficiently without the need for large equipment. The machine was developed in collaboration with Demtech, which supplied the NPK GH6 hydraulic high-frequency hammer.

Safety as a guiding principle

Safety is a top priority in the development of new machines. That is why all Inpieq machines come standard with a Load Moment Indicator (LMI). “Stability is and remains a key factor in ensuring safe operation of foundation-driving machines. That is why we equip all our machines with a Last Moment Indicator.” With this approach, Inpieq is staying ahead of the new inspection guidelines, which will take effect in 2027.

Custom Solutions

In recent years, Inpieq has developed into a specialist in compact foundation machines and related components, such as grout units, pull tables, power units, vibratory hammers, and pile drivers. The machines are largely developed and built to customer specifications. “We don’t build off-the-shelf solutions, but rather machines tailored to our customers” practical needs. We view Zieleman’s decision to choose Inpieq for the second time as a confirmation of their confidence in our products and our approach. Sound advice, fast delivery, and a strong service organization for maintenance and repairs are central to this.”

International Interest

Inpieq’s market is no longer limited to the Benelux region. Interest in compact foundation machines is also growing internationally. The company recently delivered an IFP15 to a client in Denmark. The machines are even being used on the other side of the world. For example, the New Zealand company TerraFund uses the IHE15 to install sheet piles. According to Van Deursen, this international demand is in line with a broader trend in the foundation sector. “Globally, we’re seeing projects increasingly take place at sites where space is limited. Compact machines offer a solution in such cases. That’s precisely why we continue to invest in innovative solutions that combine power, safety, and mobility.”
