Service and maintenance of the Michiel de Ruijter Tunnel
Only at night will the bridge be closed.

Service and maintenance of the Michiel de Ruijter Tunnel

During and after the modifications to the Michiel de Ruijter Tunnel, ÆVO will - as before - take on service & maintenance of the electrical installations.

For that reason, TunnelBeheerOrganisatie (TBO) of the City of Amsterdam wants maintenance partner ÆVO to be involved. What will happen and how will it happen? Prior to and during the modifications, ÆVO's team has a monitoring and advisory role. ENGIE will dismantle the installations in the tunnel and hand them over to the management organization daily at the end of the night - after mounting the fireproof panels - to check them and perform maintenance.

“Because we are responsible for all electrical maintenance and all occurring malfunctions - including during the conversion - we need to know whether the right materials have been used and whether everything is maintainable,” says Ben de Bakker, project manager of ÆVO. “Moreover, during the conversion, our regular maintenance people are also at work,” adds Youri Besse, project manager of ÆVO. “We also need to be aware of their activities to ensure safety.”

On top of that, ÆVO is responsible for the review of all plans including the implementation planning. De Bakker: “This challenge is not in technical tours de force, but in coordination and alignment. We help verify that all stakeholders - and there are many - will soon be able to work together as a well-oiled machine.”
