In addition to industrial clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE), HKV from Ochten has a very wide assortment of road beaconing, advertising & sign products and tools. The latter category recently included the Nestle GNPS-42: a light, complete and affordable satellite positioning system that makes it very easy to take basic measurements yourself.

One stop shop

Since its inception in 1975, HKV Ochten has grown into a renowned one stop shop for the GWW industry. Quality and personal attention are of paramount importance. "When you deliver quality in all areas, you build a long-term relationship with satisfied customers," knows Bert Oomen, account manager at HKV. "We exclusively supply A-brands in the field of industrial clothing, and we have launched an RWS clothing line under our own label 'Quest'. This line offers the highest attainable in comfort, wind- and waterproofness and meets all RWS requirements. The clothing is manufactured entirely in-house," says Oomen. 

Safety first

"In addition to quality and personal attention, we consider safety within the GWW extremely important. As a full-fledged infrastructure partner in the field of safety, we therefore have a wide range of PPE items such as helmets, shoes, boots, gloves and glasses." In the context of safety, HKV also supplies road markings. "Originally a specialist in road signs, HKV supplies the new durable OFN rice husk signs and has continued to grow in road signage. From lettering signs, we also started lettering other products such as cars and trucks. Partly as a result, our advertising & sign department has grown considerably and is a worthy player in the market with the high level of quality characteristic of HKV."

GPS satellite positioning system

In the tools category, HKV recently added the Nestle GNPS-42 to its range. "Building on our A-brands and to broaden our measuring tool offering, we have partnered with Nestle: a major player within the German market known for Deutsche Gründlichkeit," said HKV. "With both Nestle and HKV, we don't compromise on quality, while price and ease of use are important factors." Oomen is impressed by the convenience this GPS stick can bring to the customer. "And of its versatility," he continues. "Not only surveyors and engineering firms working on cadastral measurements or stakeouts, but also a landscaper who wants to stake out the central points for power or water sprinkler systems or a road manager who needs to measure hectometer signs can get along just fine with this entry-level model. Within 90 seconds you can be up and running!" That includes setting up and connecting, according to Oomen. 

Light, fast, accurate and simple

The Nestle GNPS-42 is lightweight (1.8 kg), the stick consists of only 3 parts and everything comes in a practical carrying case. In two clicks the stick is assembled and thanks to the antenna -which is incorporated into the stick and wired to the receiver- a connection is quickly established. The simultaneous use of four satellite systems (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO and BEIDOU) creates mobile satellite positioning in real time (RTK) and the system works extremely accurately (RTK fixed H: 10mm + 1 ppm, V: 18mm + 1 ppm). Another advantage is the easy operation: people without special surveying knowledge can still easily make accurate land measurements." The system comes with an Android tablet with Nestle OnToGo app, which allows you to calculate lengths, distances, height differences and volumes or plot coordinates very easily and anywhere. The information obtained can then be exported in various formats. "This way you are no longer dependent on a surveyor and you can offer everything in-house to your customers much more flexibly." Meanwhile, the Nestle GNPS-42 has been delivered by HKV to a very large demolition contractor in the Netherlands, which deploys the system to cut heads of foundation piles. Not only are the coordinates of the foundation pile displayed exactly, but also how much of it needs to be removed is clear at a glance.
