Leader in electric cranes packs a big punch at bauma

Three electric models in the spotlight

Well, pebble ... In fact, all the building blocks are in place to make the sector substantially more sustainable. Which is what is therefore happening. Coincidentally, the previous bauma edition in October 2022 was the starting point for this success story. On the SANY stand at the time, the world's first electrically driven telescopic crane on caterpillars in the blue color of VolkerWessels was showing off. During the fair, the 80-ton SCE800TB-EV was officially handed over to this second largest construction company in the Netherlands and attracted many visitors for seven days.

Plenty to choose from

Almost 2.5 years later, the 80-ton crane still has no complaints about interest. With some thirty units sold, the telescopic boom crane is the best-selling model in the brand's emission-free range, which now includes six variants. The TB series with telescopic boom consists of four types with 50, 80, 100 and 150 tons lifting capacity. The A series with lattice boom comes with a choice of 100 or 135 ton lifting capacity, although a 200-tonner is also on the way. So for those eager to make the crane fleet more sustainable, there is plenty to choose from.

With the slogan "Quality changes the world," SANY leaves no doubt that quality and reliability are the basis for conquering the lifting world. Or conquer it again, because it is clear that Dutch contractors, crane rental companies and foundation companies are embracing the Chinese brand again. This is not surprising, since the Netherlands is a leader in emission-free construction. Many clients are demanding this. Jack: "We recognized early on that electrification would become a new growth market."

Leading role

The fact that it is not SANY itself, but the distributor for the Benelux countries that is presenting the electric crane range at bauma 2025, is remarkable to say the least. Yet it is simple to explain. Sany Cranes.Services stood at the cradle of the emission-free models by sitting down with engineers in China to discuss design and technology. "By many we are considered a semi-manufacturer," it sounds, "because of the leading role we play in terms of development and sales."

Following the Benelux, the rest of the world is also discovering that SANY has something special to offer, and electric cranes are finding their way to more and more continents, including Australia. "In the beginning we regularly sold a diesel, but now electric has taken over for sure 90%. We are therefore steadily climbing towards the sixtieth zero-emission machine to be delivered, which is quite a milestone. Maybe it will be during bauma. There will be a 100-ton telerup in company colors."

Power Linx battery pack

Three electric cranes will be on display at the Sany Cranes.Services booth: a 50-ton and a 100-ton telescopic mast and a 100-ton lattice boom crane. The battery capacity is matched to the total weight so that each model can effortlessly run for eight to 10 working hours. Recharging can be done with 16A/32A/63A on both the undercarriage and upper carriage. Fast charging is only possible on the upper trolley with speeds up to 240 kW. New to the range is SANY's Power Linx SPL210, a 210 kWh external battery pack, three of which have already been sold in the Netherlands.
