Following a successful return in 2024—six years after the previous edition due to the pandemic—Intermat is gearing up for the next phase. From April 21 through 24, 2027, Paris will once again become the international hub for the construction and infrastructure sectors. The thirteenth edition of the trade show will bring together manufacturers, contractors, industry associations, and policymakers not only to showcase the latest machinery but, above all, to offer solutions to the sector’s greatest challenges.
Intermat was first organized in 1988 in response to the need to bring the entire construction industry together in one place. Since then, the trade show has grown into an international platform where innovation, knowledge sharing, and collaboration take center stage. This is achieved in close collaboration with leading industry organizations such as C-MAT, DLR, Evolis, FFB, and FNTP.

While the focus in 2024 was on decarbonization, the broader theme of sustainability will take center stage in 2027, says Guillaume Schaeffer, exhibition manager at Intermat. “This isn’t just about reducing CO2 emissions, but also about smarter energy use, more efficient use of materials, waste management, safety, digitization, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. In addition, the construction industry’s appeal as an employer will also receive significant attention.”
The trade show organizers expect to welcome approximately 150,000 visitors from more than 130 countries and about 1,200 exhibitors in 2027, 68 percent of whom will come from outside France. “The strong international interest is striking: one in four visitors comes from abroad,” says Guillaume. The Netherlands, along with Belgium and Italy, is among the largest international visitor groups.

The exhibition floor is organized around five thematic hubs: ‘Earthmoving, Demolition, and Transportation,’ ‘Lifting & Handling,’ ‘Roads, Minerals, and Foundations,’ ’Buildings, Civil Engineering, and Concrete Sector,‘ and finally ’New Technologies & New Energies.“ ”A major newcomer is World of Concrete Europe, which, with approximately 200 exhibitors, will have its own exhibition space and demonstration area,“ notes Guillaume. The popular Demonstration Area is also returning, but larger than ever. ”Across more than 12,000 square meters, manufacturers will showcase their machines in action, allowing visitors to experience innovations firsthand.”
In addition, the trade show serves as the stage for the tenth edition of the Intermat Innovation Awards, which recognize sustainable innovations across the five trade show segments.
“New talent will be featured prominently in the Start-up Village and at the Intermat Academy, where students can meet employers and learn about career opportunities in the industry.”

Another highlight is the African Summit on the third day of the trade show. “We have close ties with French-speaking countries in Africa, which, as always, are visiting Intermat in large numbers,” says Guillaume. “Africa faces enormous infrastructure challenges, ranging from the construction of new highways and airports to energy infrastructure. During the African Summit, leading international speakers will address these challenges and, above all, highlight the opportunities for European companies.”
In short, Intermat 2027 already promises to be a success. “It’s the place where ideas are born, partnerships are forged, and the future of construction takes shape,” Guillaume sums it up powerfully. “Every three years, visitors are invariably surprised by innovations from unexpected sources.” ‘Expect the unexpected’ is therefore the message.
