Inner city areas face several challenges, including mitigating the effects of heavy showers and dealing with rainwater in a more sustainable way. BontexGeo is a specialist in the field of geosynthetics and offers various solutions to meet these challenges.
"Nowadays, we are increasingly facing heavy rainfall as well as prolonged drought. How do you make sure your infrastructure can cope with this?" said Stefan van de Sluis, sales manager BontexGeo. "With wadis, water retention systems and permeable paving systems, we can temporarily store excess water and gradually drain it away. Our geotextiles create effective filtration and separation layers as part of these water infiltration systems. Another example are blue roof and green roof systems that collect rainwater, delay its discharge, thus relieving the sewer system, in addition to increasing biodiversity and improving air quality in the city."
Another solution, is the so-called paving element, or Truckcell 80, which is a cellular permeable pavement made of 100 percent recycled plastic designed for heavy use and high-load applications. The permeable system can be filled with topsoil or gravel to create a structural surface for truck traffic and coaches.
