Making an impact on the process side
The conversion of Groningen's southern ring road is a far-reaching and complex project with great impact on the environment. Commissioned by Projectbureau Aanpak Ring Zuid (the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management, the province and the municipality of Groningen), Missie3, formerly MGciviel, has been handling project control and contract management on the project since 2021. And they do so in their own unique way, stimulating smart cooperation with guts and decisiveness.
We are on the client's side on this project, begins Gerben Sloothaak, founder and director of Mission3. "It is a hugely complex and extensive project. An awful lot is happening, both within the project team and on the shop floor. That makes it super interesting for us, because we can make full use of our expertise here. The project is definitely one of the pearls of the north and also right in our backyard."
Mission3 was founded by Gerben in 2013 with the goal of making construction and infrastructure projects more efficient by collaborating smartly in the chain on contract management, project control and environmental management. "We like to get to the point quickly and go straight to our goal. Everything we do is effective and useful for the project," Gerben says firmly. "That requires decisiveness and guts." Arjen Bouma, KAM coordinator at Mission3 and contract consultant at Aanpak Ring Zuid, notices that this approach is appreciated. "We are critical and continually hold up a mirror to our clients. We also have the guts to counteract, solicited and sometimes unsolicited. Here in Groningen we are also a stable factor on the project. Partly due to corona and other circumstances, the project team has changed considerably in recent years. We are still represented in the same occupation, and we will remain so until the end of the project."
Mission3 works for both public clients and contractors. For example, the experienced tender team of subsidiary organization Deep Tenders assists contractors in drafting (EMVI) plans. They also support from strategy formulation and layout to reviews and interview training. "The strength of Deep Tenders lies in going through the process together. We are honest and focus on a successful process rather than just the end result. The combination of Deep Tenders and Mission3 ensures that we know both playing fields and are familiar with the mutual interests. And we take advantage of that! This combined with the broad orientation of our multidisciplinary team means that we are able to really make a difference and promote efficient collaboration in the chain. Because, in view of the enormous task in the infrastructure sector, we have to work more efficiently as a chain. You can only achieve that by making an impact. Also on the process side."
