As a work planner at SMT in Emmeloord no day is ever the same. You read that in every job description, but with us it really is the case.
As soon as you come in in the morning, you never know what will await you that day. Sometimes you'll be preparing an engine overhaul and other times you'll be busy calling in an outside company to replace a hydraulic hose, for example. Whatever you do, however, of all your tasks you make it your mission to ensure that the service technician goes out on the road fully prepared. And because this has a direct influence on the employability of machines at our customers, you are a very important pivot within the organization.
Of course, in between all the hustle and bustle there is also time for a cup of coffee (we are all coffee drinkers in the department!) Your team consists of Service Coordinators, Planners and Project Coordinators. Together you make sure that breakdowns, repairs and maintenance of machines at our customers' sites are carried out efficiently by our service technicians. Although you have your own set of tasks, you also work a lot together with your colleagues.
After the planner has scheduled a job for our service technicians, you get busy preparing the job. Using our advanced systems, you keep a good overview of the jobs to be prepared so that you don't miss a single job. You prepare the job as well as possible and ensure that, in addition to the necessary parts, everything has been arranged at the location so that the mechanic can carry out the job safely and with the right level of quality. From special tools to a crane or aerial platform, you take care of it and maintain contact with the various parties. As a result, you get satisfaction from satisfying the mechanics and customers every day.
You also keep a sharp eye on the availability of ordered parts and if necessary you take the appropriate actions to ensure that everything is delivered to the mechanic on time.
Is performing the job on site not possible? Then you make sure that the machine is transported to the workshop. This is often quite an operation, but you make sure that this is done in the right way!
Once the mechanic has completed the job, you are responsible for the quick and correct completion of the work. This includes checking the parts used and hours worked against his work report and ensuring that a correct invoice can be sent to the customer. You are also a sparring partner for the service technicians and answer technical questions from our customers.
You are in the middle of the operation because you have a lot of contact with the service technicians. Emergency jobs regularly come in between and therefore the work is often ad hoc, but by shifting gears in a good way this makes your day challenging every time.
Using technical drawings and other online reference books, you try to provide the mechanic with the best possible advice, sometimes these are complex puzzles that you get to solve.
Of course there is hard work but in between there is plenty of room for (bland) humor.
