Big, bigger ... very big! Anyway, big news about a very big crawler excavator. We at Staad Groep are teaming up with Special Construction Machinery (SCM) of Boxmeer to convert the Develon DX800LC-7. Yes indeed, you read correctly a 80-tonner! And when we soon finish the conversion work we will even be talking about a 90 tonner! On the machine alone comes a long reach boom of 24 meters!
This machine is purchased by Van den Borne from Reusel. I'm sure it's because of the place name, but this really is a giant of a machine. The largest excavator we have converted so far was the DX490LC, to a 50 tonner. A fun fact about that project is that it was also converted in cooperation with SCM and also for Van den Borne. So history repeats itself, only now even bigger.

An excavator like the DX800LC-7 is quite rare here in the Netherlands. There are more of these powerhouses operating outside the Netherlands, even larger ones. This is partly due to the type of work. This Develon will soon be working on a quarry where it will have to go pretty deep, but that was more or less already apparent from the enormous boom.
There is no doubt that this machine and the associated conversion work will take up a lot of space at both companies, but we will not turn our joint hands away from that. These are projects that we really like to tackle, so we will be keeping a close eye on it. Future updates from this giant will follow.
