Market leader turntables wants to make it easier for operators

Attach equipment pieces safely without having to leave the cab. That's totally hot with machine operators. With the introduction of the S40, Engcon now has automatic quick couplers for machines from 2 to 40 tons. Swivel attachments are also becoming increasingly popular. To facilitate this enormous growth, Engcon is working to strengthen its service provision, says Benelux Country Manager Mark Lisman.

"Add another mechanic and representative and we are all set for the future. The new workshop employee will start working soon." For Mark Lisman and colleagues, it can't go fast enough, as more and more customers want to use Engcon products on their projects. This is partly a result of the Free Gripper Campaign in late 2021. Anyone who purchased the proportional DC2 control system from Engcon received a free gripper on the rotary attachment, regardless of the type of quick coupler.

DC2, together with the rotary tilt and quick couplers, creates a safer working environment. The control system regulates track and wheel steering and boom swing, among other things. Remote support is now also possible via an app on the smartphone, as an alternative to PC and USB cable. The resulting increase in functionality and efficiency of machines appealed to many machine operators and owners. This also applies, incidentally, to another current development: the downward expansion of the quick coupler range.

Quick coupler for mini excavators

With the introduction of the compact S40 automatic quick coupler for mini excavators, Engcon now has automatic quick couplers for all machines from 2 to 40 tons. According to Mark, the huge demand shows well that the slewing jib is the new standard in both crawler and tire cranes.

The new "small" quick coupler S40 - it weighs only 50 kg! - incidentally, has the same safety features as the larger models. "Because safety is not compromised at Engcon," Mark is happy to explain one of the most important principles of the Swedish parent company. So here, too, the hydraulic locking with quadruple security. In addition, the S40 naturally has the familiar automatic clutch for hydraulic oil, electrics and lubrication and is intended for machines from 2 to 6 tons working weight.

Transport aid

Now that automatic changeover is more the rule than the exception, Engcon does not want idle valuable equipment items dumped in the mud by the side of the road. Therefore, a special transport pallet has been developed for the turntable. This is made of strong sheet steel and can be equipped with a suspension of your choice, so that the transport pallet including the swivel tilt piece can be moved safely using a pallet fork on, for example, a wheel loader, compact loader or forklift truck.
