Hydroton has developed in recent years as a specialist within the civil sector in the field of hydraulic drive technology. Thanks to a decisive approach and the right expertise, more and more clients know how to find the company from De Meern.

"That there is a huge task ahead of us in the area of replacing engineering structures such as (movable) bridges and locks is by now well known to everyone. In the field of drive technology, Hydroton is therefore developing more and more as a total supplier to cope with these projects." Speaking is Paul Plomp, operations director at Hydroton. "Besides producing customized products such as hydraulic power units, cylinders and control units, Hydroton also has other things in order. Good calculation sheets, detailed documentation and a strong service team that fully connects, tests and commissions the installation on site."

Leading projects

Hydroton has used its expertise many times before in unique projects for the Dutch and Belgian infrastructure. In the past 10 years, for example, more than 25 engineering structures have been equipped with a customized drive system. Both drawbridges, swing bridges, sluice gates and locks are part of the impressive portfolio. "One of the highlights in recent years for us were the Reevesluizen near Kampen, where a lock and a sluice were realized. Here our expertise in the field of drive technology was very much appreciated," says Paul. Hydroton has also been very active in the sector in 2023; among other things, two locks in Almere were fitted with new hydraulics and the electro-mechanical drive of an important bridge in Amsterdam was replaced with an electro-hydraulic drive.

Distinctiveness

The De Meern-based company distinguishes itself by its unique approach to projects, among other things. For example, projects are provided with hydraulic diagrams and 3D drawings as early as the design phase. Hydroton innovates and integrates smart solutions to make systems intelligent and energy efficient. Hydroton also often takes on a larger part of the scope; for example, design and production of rod systems for ring sliders and pivots is no exception, as is production of stand rulers and measuring systems. The installation of terminal boxes and electrical cabling on generators is part of the company's standard work.

Specialist in custom hydraulics

Hydroton is also active in other branches within the GWW. For example, the company produces hydraulic actuators for prestressing rebar, for example in heavy beams and piles. Furthermore, Hydroton supplies ingenious electronic jacking and sliding systems and produces jacks with a working pressure of 700 bar. The associated control technology, software and mechatronics are developed and produced in-house in order to be able to hand over a turnkey installation to the client, thus providing maximum relief.
