Largest equipment trade show puts focus on emission-free work

After an absence of 6 years, Paris will finally be the setting again next spring for one of the largest construction equipment trade shows in Europe: Intermat. Although the long absence may suggest otherwise, the sector has been anything but idle. Emission-free work will take center stage from April 24 to 27, 2024, according to a tour of manufacturers who were the first to pledge their presence in Paris.

Meanwhile, many leading names have already confirmed their attendance at the show, including Ausa, Epiroc, Faymonville, Hitachi, Kobelco, Liebherr, Magni and Volvo. They join the already registered exhibitors whose participation had been announced earlier: Alphi, Bobcat, Cummins, Imer, Komatsu, Groupe Monnoyeur (including CAT), Putzmeister, Sany, Sateco, Schwing Stetter, Sunward, Takeuchi, Topcon and Wacker Neuson.

Davy Guillemard, CEO of Volvo Construction, commented, "Intermat 2024 has reinvented itself to address the challenges of making the construction industry emission-free, adapting to environmental requirements and making progress towards sustainability. Because these objectives are particularly closely aligned with the fundamental values and ambitions of the Volvo Group, which is determined to be a proactive leader in change and accelerate the low-carbon path, we have chosen to invite our customers and partners to meet with us at Intermat in Paris to share all of our CO2-poor solutions to present."

Electric

Guillemard garners support from François Escourrou, CEO of Wacker Neuson: "Our group is looking forward with great interest to the next Intermat show with the theme 'low carbon' and has set itself the goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 50% in 2025 compared to 2019. To achieve this, we have chosen to convert our machines to electric power in order to support our customers in their CSR policies. We will therefore introduce many new products during Intermat 2024, with around 40 new machines in the electric range, as well as in the area of associated services and digitalization."

Olivier Saint-Paul, CEO of PL2M: "At PL2M, the leader in finishing machines, we are looking forward to participating in the next Intermat and making our contribution to the zero carbon transition in the construction industry. The event provides an opportunity to introduce new solutions that are resolutely focused on the future, complementing our range of finishing machines, liquid screed pumps and traditional screed conveyors. Our Putzmeister, Lancy and Brinkmann brands will be on display at our booth with a host of innovations for ever higher performance and safety on construction sites and reduced environmental impact."

The 2024 edition of Intermat, which for the first time has not six but four days, aims to bring the entire construction industry together around a shared vision of the future and aims to use its collective excellence to address the industry's key issues in the areas of sustainability and energy, digitalization, CSR engagement, training and employment, and to provide a platform for dialogue with the government.

A trip to Paris

Dutch companies that still want to participate in one of the largest construction equipment fairs in Europe can contact the Dutch branch of Promosalons, a global partner network that promotes 70 of the most important French trade fairs in various sectors. Coen Rosdorff of Promosalons also let it be known that interested visitors for Intermat can already orient themselves to visiting Paris now.

"Tickets for Thalys can usually be booked four months in advance and even then very affordable (from 70 euros one way). It also pays to book a hotel with cancellation option in Paris now. Intermat has a big advantage over Bauma in Munich, for example, and that is that the Paris region is much more easily accessible from the Netherlands and has many more hotel rooms, keeping prices acceptable. Given the large number of leading manufacturers who have already pledged their participation, I expect that there will be an awful lot of innovations and new models on display at Intermat."
