The 360° camera system - security next level

Brigade Electronics' 360° camera system is THE total system that eliminates every blind spot. For more than forty years, the company has focused on saving lives by making vehicles, on and off road, as safe as possible. Through four cameras, which transmit the images to an ECU (Electronic Control Unit), the driver sees in one image everything that happens around his vehicle.

Heijmans Netherlands has decided to have Brigade's 360° camera system installed on every truck and, where necessary, other equipment.

Blind spots pose a significant danger to a person or object located near the vehicle. Even with a mirror or single-view camera, the risk of blind spots remains. Too often, accidents still happen to cyclists in traffic or employees on construction sites who are hit because they were in the blind spot. That's why Brigade Electronics introduced the Backeye several years ago.®360. "With this, the benefits extend beyond accident prevention," said Jeroen Levert, business development manager at Brigade Electronics. "Because the driver sees a real-time overview of the vehicle and the entire environment around the vehicle on his monitor from a helicopter view, it is the perfect support in all situations. This is because the driver immediately sees if something or someone is near the vehicle and can immediately anticipate this."

Traffic Service Netherlands also uses the Backeye®360 system on their collision absorbers.

Intelligent camera/monitor systems

"By listening to the customer's wishes and tailoring our products accordingly, we create sophisticated solutions every time and reduce risks to a minimum. Because fortunately, safety is increasingly coming first. Heijmans has decided to have Brigade's 360° camera system installed on every truck and, where necessary, on other equipment. They want their subcontractors to comply with a 360-view on their vehicles as well. Heijmans has even signed a safety covenant (Governance Code on Collision Protection) for this 'together with a number of other main contractors'. A nice development that contributes to increasing safety and working safely," Levert believes.

Choosing importers for safety

"Within the earthmoving world, we are in the middle of our Backeye®360 system at several importers, including Doosan, Catepillar, Kobelco, Atlas, Hitachi, et cetera," Levert continued. Traffic Service Nederland also uses the Backeye®360 system on their collision absorbers (the vehicles they deploy at road works, among other things).

In combination with the radar detection system The Backeye®360 is compatible with the radar detection system. "That combination ensures optimum safety and is used particularly in the mining industry and at construction sites. This is because the system always works, even if the cameras are covered in dust, dirt or snow. The input from both systems is displayed on one monitor. Very convenient for the driver." Levert explains that the integration of both systems is unique.

Backeye®360 works on virtually any vehicle or machine, no matter how large or small.

Zonesafe

Brigade Electronics will soon introduce the Zonesafe: a proximity alert detection system that uses radio frequency identification device (RFID) technology. It creates 360-degree detection zones around vehicles. Active tags can be attached to workmen's vests or helmets, giving both the wearer of the tag and the vehicle to which the system is mounted a vibration or sound signal when something or someone is in the detection zone. "This even works preventively," says Levert. "For example, people tend to quickly walk the shortest route. However, if one wears a vest with a tag, we see that this does not happen or happens less because one gets a signal. In this way, people are more aware of risks and that is perhaps the most important thing to prevent accidents."

Levert concludes, "Thanks to the flexibility of the Brigade systems, there are solutions for all kinds of applications. This makes Brigade's products usable not only in GWW, but also in all other markets."
