Specialist in soil stabilization Terrastab is also present at Infratech 2019. On stand number 1,100, the company is exhibiting their very latest invention, a machine for verge stabilization. Terrastab specializes in soil stabilization. This involves upgrading unusable soil materials, which are reused as foundations for civil engineering applications. For the foundation of bicycle paths and wind farms to that of dikes as part of dike reinforcement.
Account Manager Erwin Bonestroo: "Our developments have taken us to the point where we are the only company in the Netherlands able to give almost all soil products a new constructive function. To do this, we mix soil material with binding agents and additives specially developed by us, so that the material can be reused. Here the method is always the same, but the binding agents are always different, depending on the soil material and the function."
Method is time- and cost-saving
In advance, Terrastab conducts soil testing in its own laboratory to determine which of the binders and additives are needed to mix with the soil and achieve the proper value. When the correct composition is obtained, the company deploys specialized workers, who, using Terrastab's machinery, take care of stabilizing and compacting the soil in question. This method not only saves time and money, but is also beneficial to the environment, as it requires about 80 percent less transport movements.
Innovative process
And developments are not standing still. Recently, the company developed a new process for berm stabilization. "By treating the verge material with this, we create a rigid foundation for grass concrete blocks so that they remain insured for 10 to 15 years. This saves in maintenance of both roadsides and asphalt. We have built a machine for this ourselves, which we will show at the upcoming Infratech," concludes Bonestroo.
