Decisive consulting firm for geotechnical and environmental soil testing

Koops Grondmechanica has more than 25 years of experience in geotechnical, geohydrological and environmental soil testing. Albert Palsma, owner of the company, says, "We have everything in-house: even our own geotechnical laboratory."

Since 1996, Koops Grondmechanica has worked together with a group of independent, independent and experienced consultants under the name Koops & Romeijn Geogroep. "This way we exchange knowledge and support each other with geotechnical and environmental soil investigation, geotechnical engineering and geohydrology."

One set of services

Through these collaborations, the company offers a comprehensive range of services. "For example, we perform a variety of work: from probing to mechanical soil drilling and from sampling for geotechnical laboratory research to soil testing. And we have the capacity for it with four crawler-driven CPT trucks, midi crawlers, two mini crawlers and two mechanical drilling rigs."

Leading projects

Koops Grondmechanica is mainly active in construction. They have also been active in infra since a few years, for the benefit of the energy transition. "Last year, for example, we investigated the land cable routes for the IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Beta wind farms. And various cable routes such as Tennet Southwest 380 kV East."

"We also conducted several geotechnical investigations on the Maasvlakte for a CO2 pipeline (Porthos), hydrogen pipelines and heat pipelines for WartmtelinQ. These pipelines run from the oil refineries to the sea: a great way to reduce CO2 emissions."

New projects are also planned for 2023. "We are going to conduct geotechnical research for a hydrogen pipeline from Eemshaven to Delfzijl. This will allow power generated at sea to be routed to a new hydrogen plant. In this way, we are working together on a sustainable future."
