For more than twenty years, 4PS Construct has relied on Microsoft's platform. "We use the basic functionalities of Dynamics 365 Business Central on which we have built all kinds of additional features specifically for the infrastructure sector," explains André Overeem, innovation director of 4PS. "Through our partnership with Microsoft, we keep hitching a ride on the latest technologies. In addition to constantly adding new functionalities to the ERP system, we have in recent years also invested heavily in 'clouding' the solution with our customers. More and more infra customers we are bringing to the cloud."
4PS brengt steeds meer infraklanten naar de cloud.
According to Overeem, a major advantage of working in the cloud is that the software is always available. "4PS Construct can be used on any device - phone, tablet, laptop - via the browser. Clients don't have to worry about maintenance, don't have to buy extra hardware and can use the ERP solution like water from the tap. Incidentally, 4PS Construct is still available 'on premise' locally installed, but the trend towards the cloud has really started. We charge a monthly fee per user. That also makes the software very flexible; the number of users can be scaled up or down very easily."
Production in the infrastructure sector always takes place on location. Reason for 4PS to develop a number of handy apps in addition to the ERP system, which are naturally "connected" to 4PS Construct. Overeem gives an example. "For the infrastructure sector, for example, we have developed the GWW app that enables machinists to handle the entire administration. Through the app, the machinist can view jobs, pass on the status, register his hours (work and travel times) and charge them to the specific project, both internal and external. Again, our equipment app focuses on the equipment maintenance department at infrastructure companies. Maintenance of large infrastructure equipment is often done on site. Through the equipment app, the machine can be located and it is visible what type of maintenance the machine needs. Full administrative processing is also done in this app."
André Overeem, innovatiedirecteur van 4PS.
We can expect many more apps from 4PS in the coming years, Overeem reveals. "For example, we are also developing an app for work planners and project managers who can view, share, process, et cetera, on-site information. This way, everyone has access to the latest documents anywhere and anytime, even if there is no internet connection available for a while."
"In the context of SCC and the Quality Assurance Act, issue management is becoming increasingly important," Overeem continues. "Such an app also has an added value in this. Any defects can be reported on the spot via the app, a photo can be added, etc. And in dangerous situations, the app user is immediately presented with a checklist to secure the situation."
Facilitating people on site is taking more and more shape at 4PS. The 4PS Construct ERP system combined with the specific apps provide not only more control, but also more convenience. So do the possibilities within 4PS in terms of chain integration, for which 4PS Control was developed. "It is a portal on which suppliers, clients, (sub)contractors and own employees can view and exchange information. For example, our customer Dynniq uses 4PS Control to share information about reports of breakdowns and damages with their customers. All parties see the same information and the work can be handled digitally. This makes communicating a lot faster, easier and clearer. 4PS Control is also a cloud service."
Finally, 4PS is betting heavily on BIM and Internet of Things. "We are now running a pilot with a road construction company, where all the equipment is connected to each other and to our ERP system. It ensures that equipment can be planned and deployed more effectively. BIM may still be in its infra sector at the moment, but it will become increasingly relevant in the future. In this, too, we are leading the way."
