5 years of digital surveying with marXact

Blow up the balloons and grab the horns, because marXact is celebrating their birthday! At least they were on Feb. 14. For 5 years marXact has been working hard to make centimeter-accurate digital surveying easy and affordable. They do this with hard- and software they have developed themselves and therefore certainly for the GWW sector. From a small garage with two people to an office with more than 20 employees, co-founders CEO Tommy van der Heijden and CTO Raoul van Ginkel would like to tell you more about this.

It's no secret that technology has changed in recent years, and so has surveying. From hiring a surveyor and a traditional work process to having your own projects digitally in hand. This, among other things, is also where the idea behind marXact comes from. 

Tommy van der Heijden: ''The idea originally came from the fiber optic angle. In fact, employees had a tablet in their hands with a digital design, however, the digital location of the cables was missing. This always required a surveyor. It was difficult to schedule an appointment, the processes took a lot of time and it was often very expensive. In addition, cables were sometimes forgotten, so this is where we saw a gap in the market. Raoul and I then investigated what hardware and software were already available on the market.''

Raoul van Ginkel: ''What struck us is that all existing software was very complicated and our aim has always been to keep it simple. This did not go unnoticed, because soon companies from other industries came to this idea.''

Updates and developments

Tommy: ''What I am very proud of is our expansion from just one surveying device to a comprehensive solution. Our full UNI-Complete package includes, in addition to the hardware, the associated surveying software, an online cloud environment with support and an RTK correction network to stay centimeter accurate. In addition, I am especially proud that large and small companies come to us for a digital surveying solution. Finally, very grateful that we have been able to grow without setbacks and despite the current pandemic.'' Raoul: ''In addition to our own software, we also have many integrations with partners. We have developed these combinations so that users can choose how to proceed. In doing so, we have experts in the support department who are then ready for you every day to help you and look into your projects.''

marXact conquers the GWW

Tommy: ''In GWW we want to make it clear to people that you don't always need a surveyor to do simple measuring work yourself. I also think that we have definitely started the trend that GPS measuring no longer has to be just for professionals, but is accessible to anyone working in the field. In addition, none of this has to cost that much compared to hiring a surveyor and the process saves you a lot of time.''

On to the next 5 years

Raoul: ''The nice thing is that 5 years ago we didn't expect to be standing here now. We had many ideas and also listened enormously to the market. Because of this we have taken a different path than we originally saw before us, I am convinced that the same will be true for the next 5 years.''

Tommy: ''Naturally, our goal is to grow and make digital surveying for the excavator also possible internationally. We find the feedback from the person in the field most valuable. For us, the customer has been the guide and we base our course partly on that.''
