More power, more power and more possibilities

Electrification and reduction of CO2-emissions: they are also important issues in the ground, road, hydraulic engineering sector. The demand for good battery-powered tools is therefore growing by the day. Makita's XGT platform offers the solution: "A world without cords and fuel is possible with our batteries. That's why we keep developing our XGT platform in full force. In this way, we provide more possibilities and more power," said Arjen Peeters, product and account manager at Makita.

Makita has been supplying a wide range of machines, accessories and consumables for various sectors for years. Peeters explains, "Over the years, we started focusing on different markets. It all started with our expertise for power tools in construction. Moreover, we develop and produce our machines under our own roof. Thus, we offer a wide range of products tailored to customer demand."

Industry sustainability

We all know it: the infrastructure sector wants to operate completely emission-free by 2028. "We are happy to do our part to achieve this. At InfraTech 2023 we will be at the emissions square. Here you will find five companies marketing machines to achieve a zero-emission construction site. Nice detail: the heart of the square is a hydrogen generator, the stands are around it."

In the GWW sector, Makita's wide range of products comes into its own. That is why Makita continues to rapidly develop the XGT platform and is highlighting the platform at the fair. "Visitors will see possibilities that are currently available on the platform. Of course, we also like to inform users about what we will develop in the future. We now offer 120 devices, but at least 100 more will be added in the next year and a half, including specific models for the infra sector."

The communication system of the XGT platform.

From 350 mm cut-off saws to impact wrenches and from cordless leaf blowers to heavier chipping and demolition hammers: with the XGT platform, everything simply runs on the same battery. "Also for heavier and more intensive jobs, as we see a lot in the GWW, the XGT platform is perfectly suited. For example, we have 40V and 2×40V machines, creating double the power. This makes the machines just as strong as comparable machines operating on fossil fuels."

In conversation with the GWW

Innovation is central to Makita. That's why they like to engage with visitors at the fair. "The wishes and needs of our end users are very important to us. After all, we produce and develop our machines based on the demand of the users. It is nice to hear directly from them what they find fine functionalities, how they use the machines and whether they still miss something in the range."

With the XGT platform, all devices operate on the same battery.

Since March 2022, Makita has stopped manufacturing and developing fuel machines altogether. "Working with batteries is much more sustainable and the performance of the XGT platform meets all expectations. To make the industry completely emission-free by 2028, we are also looking with the companies at the fair at what it takes to keep doing the job. We have short lines of communication with our factory. Together with the sector, we communicate what functionalities are needed. This is how we work together with the end user to create a wider range for an emission-free infra sector!"
