Digital surveying facilitates mapping of infrastructure projects and preparations.

Affordable and easy digital measuring

InfraTech is just around the corner, as is the new year. marXact from Hilversum has big plans for both when it comes to affordable and easy self-digital surveying. Co-founder Tommy van der Heijden tells us what to expect from their participation in the fair and the year 2023.

Direct digital measuring

marXact makes centimeter-accurate, digital surveying easy and affordable for any excavator who can operate a smartphone. In doing so, they enable field workers to measure their own projects and have them automatically sync with their GIS tools. This allows companies in infrastructure and other sectors to work more efficiently, productively and with more control over their data and processes. They are continually expanding those capabilities.

Easy machine control

One of the new impressions visitors can get during InfraTech is marXact's own machine control system, UNI-Machine. Van der Heijden: "The introduction of UNI-Machine was during bauma, last October. During the world's largest construction fair we showed what we are working so hard on. Visitors could see and experience how easy machine control can and should be, among other things by seeing on a large screen the view and interface that operators have in the cabin - some people even took a seat in the excavator and thus experienced the entire process! We can use these impressions and feedback during further development. In our view, the user is the power behind the innovation and it is very important to stop and listen. Listening to what they want and what they need, answering questions as best we can."

Those questions could not only be asked of marXact. "That's right, Nijhuis Engineering Dronten BV was also present at our booth. UNI-Machine is a joint development, joining forces to create a strong and easy-to-use solution. Nijhuis Engineering is a manufacturer of electronic safeguards, limiters, weighing technology and controls. We are naturally at home in digital measuring, from production to delivery. We struck up a conversation, both feel the whole thing should be especially easy and insightful, started developing, testing and developing further, and are now targeting the end of quarter 2 for the first deliveries."

New surveying software

In addition to machine control, marXact is coming to market with another new product next year: the surveying app UNI-Collect. "That's the successor to our current surveying software UNI-Connect, which can now be used via an Internet browser. Switching to an app allows us to make updates more easily and allows for better surveying in an area with little to no Internet coverage, to name two advantages. We are currently rebuilding all the current features but for the app. Then we'll get back to work on any other ideas we have."

Furthermore, marXact will come out with even more news next year, including user import and expert capabilities and additional layers and associated support. Features for tilt and internal radio will also be launched next year. "We want to make digital surveying as easy as possible for a wide audience and different industries. That includes these kinds of innovations and surveying capabilities. We are developing according to an internal roadmap where all our plans and ideas are listed; we have collected a lot of them since our founding in 2017. You can't develop and launch everything at once, especially when you want to test and implement improvements properly. That's what that roadmap full of extensions and updates is for. The nice thing for users is that these are always free of charge! That way you know exactly where you stand."

Position 1,214

If you want to know more about digital surveying and/or these brand new developments, you can knock on marXact's door during InfraTech. "Naturally, visitors are welcome to visit our stand! Here we can tell more about our own marXact machine control, the new surveying app, but also certainly discuss what the specific surveying needs are. All one has to do to do so is drop by booth 1.214. There you will find the marXact team and we are ready to help you further!"
