So too with the renovation of the platform caps at Leeuwarden station. Xavry Bolkesteijn, director at Bolkesteijn Rail BV, is speaking.
"The old platform pavement of a total of three platforms had to be broken up and removed in phases. We then helped with our crane to remove the platform covers. Other work consisted of excavating the platforms, clearing foundations and removing cables and pipes. After Anton Rail & Infra installed the new foundations of the platform caps, we placed the prefabricated foundation beams.

After placing the cross beams, Bolkesteijn dug the trenches for the cables and pipes and the new HWAs. Xavry: "Once those were laid, we backfilled and profiled the platform. The feat, however, was the new paving, consisting of new tiles that comply with ProRail's new guidelines. We lay tiles by machine, and we sometimes break speed records in the process. Most recently, on a project in Gouda, we laid 2,450 m2 tiles in just 21 hours. By the way, that speed does not diminish the quality of the work. However, it is a positive factor when working on platforms, that you can make so much production in such a short time is a beautiful form of teamwork!"
