InfraTech and Matexpo, two leading trade fairs in the Netherlands and Belgium in the field of construction and infrastructure, are organizing the second edition of Techni-Mat, a two-day trade fair for all players within infra & structural engineering, in Kortrijk Xpo on March 9 & 10, 2022. The fair is the gathering point of know-how for the sector and focuses mainly on techniques and materials. As in 2020, the Sustainability & Technical Award will again be awarded in 2022.
The very first edition of the fair was normally scheduled to take place on March 25 and 26, 2020, but was rescheduled to October because of corona. Organizers Infratech and Matexpo miraculously managed to put together a coronaproof physical debut last year. In addition to 125 interesting exhibitors and a varied seminar program, one of the highlights during the two-day fair was the presentation of the very first Techni-Mat Awards.

Techni-Mat focuses specifically on contractors from infra and structural engineering: technical directors, buyers, calculators, engineering offices, site and project managers, general management. But clients/builders also belong to the target audience, from federal, regional, provincial and municipal governments to healthcare institutions. And, of course, Techni-Mat also reaches private clients and utility companies. In short, all major players from the sectors foundations & building frame, roofs & facades, infrastructure, tunneling techniques, sewerage & water, public space & mobility energy and traffic infrastructure come into their own at Techni-Mat.
Despite the unusual circumstances, a great foundation was laid for this new trade fair in 2020. The beautiful setting, tight organization and strong content program created a positive atmosphere among attendees. Visitors, totaling 1,659, were also pleasantly surprised by the diverse offerings at the fair. "Marketing a new fair is always a challenge. In these times it is even more difficult, but we were convinced that Techni-Mat had to continue, in the interest of the sector. And then when you see that there is a good atmosphere and physical contacts are being made again, then you are glad that you have persevered and that the market has also followed," a satisfied fair director Gregory Olszewski noted after the first edition last year.

For Grond/Weg/Waterbouw, the fair director is happy to look ahead to the second edition in March. Gregory Olszewski: "Techni-Mat is the most efficient way to meet a lot of (potential) partners in a short time. And it is also the ideal place for spontaneous new meetings that can often lead to very nice collaborations. At Techni-Mat, exhibitors have the opportunity to put their products or services in the spotlight. For the second edition in March 2022, we will continue the momentum of a successful first edition. We are again aiming for a varied audience, various exhibitors, an interesting seminar program and an exciting award ceremony. We assume that the fair will take place in an as-needed manner. In any case, we showed last year that we can also organize a nice and successful coronasafe event."
During Techni-Mat, there will be inspiring keynotes and conferences on current topics of interest within the industry. The Sustainability Award and Technical Award will also be presented for the second time. In 2020, STRADUS and CGK Group respectively went home with the awards. The content program is put together in cooperation with partners such as: Bouwunie, FEDBETON, Confederatie Bouw, Aquaflanders, OBAC-BGO, Digitaal Vlaanderen and Fereb.
