Latest generation of electric Volvo trucks for waste collection, recycling and regional deployment at IFAT 2026

From May 4 to 7, Volvo Trucks will present a wide range of electric vehicles and solutions for the waste and recycling, regional transport and urban distribution sectors at IFAT 2026 in Munich. Among others, electric trucks with different bodies will be on display at booth 417 in hall C6.

At IFAT 2026, Volvo Trucks, together with Volvo Construction Equipment and Volvo Penta, will show the latest strides on the road Towards Zero. Solutions that contribute to an emission-free future are the focus, with special attention to applications in and around cities, such as municipal waste and recycling operations and regional distribution.

Since series production of electric Volvo trucks began, the range has expanded continuously. As a result, electric trucks have become usable for an increasingly wide range of applications. 

At the Volvo Trucks booth, you will learn more about the latest technologies, services, financing and solutions related to alternative powertrains, especially in the field of electric mobility. The focus is on practical use: from choosing the right vehicle and driving style for the application at hand, to suitable charging and operating strategies for electric trucks.

Volvo is showing two electric trucks at IFAT 2026: the Volvo FM Low Entry as a waste collection vehicle and a Volvo FM Electric 6×2 with hooklift system. The Volvo FM Electric is the first truck to be shown in Germany with the recently introduced new powertrain and batteries.

The Volvo FM Low Entry is equipped with a body from Zöller (Medium X4) and can be seen with the configuration below:

• Battery capacity: 360 kWh
• Battery type: NCA
• Driving power: 330 kW
• Load capacity: 250 kW DC, 43 kW AC 
• Drive: two electric motors and 12-speed I-Shift automatic transmission
• PTO: 600V DC connection 
• Cab: FM Low Entry cab with sliding door on passenger side
• Superstructure: Zöller Medium X4 

Scoop: new generation Volvo FM Electric 6×2 with hooklift system

The latest-generation Volvo FM Electric 6×2 has a Meiller unwind system (RS21.70) and has the following specifications:

• Battery capacity: 540 kWh 
• Battery type: NCA
• Driving power: up to 540 kW (731 hp)
• Range: up to 470 km* on one battery charge
• Payload: 350 kW CCS from 20% to 80% in 65 minutes.
• Drive: two electric motors and a new eight-speed gearbox 
• PTO: various solutions for cranes, hookloaders, tipper bodies or otherwise possible. The truck and body can be operated simultaneously.
• Cab: FM Globetrotter cab 
• Superstructure: Meiller Abrollkipper RS21.70

Volvo trucks from bodybuilders and other exhibitors will also be on display at other booths and in the outdoor area. For example, at the stand of bodybuilding partner Terberg Matec, there will be a fully built Volvo FM Electric 6×2 garbage truck from Municipality of Rotterdam.
