'Switching to biodegradable oil is not difficult'
Less downtime, longer life, less waste and better for people and the environment. That's the promise of CARDEV filtration systems specifically designed to rid hydraulic lubricants of dirt and water. They are supplied by Duport Lubricare. "Due to the sharply increased oil prices, we are increasingly getting requests as to whether we can also clean gas oil," explains Michael Anslijn of the Dedemsvaart-based company. "And yes, we can."
Cleaning a large amount of oil is less expensive than completely changing a large tank. And Duport Lubricare does not shy away from it. Anslijn: "Lubricants based on saturated esters can be cleaned very easily at lower temperatures. CARDEV offline and bypass filtration is capable of getting and keeping the oil in the system 'cleaner than new'. This prevents excessive wear on components and makes them last longer, which improves machine reliability."
But Duport Lubricare does more. The company is a supplier of the ECOSYNT HEES line from Swiss company MOTOREX. The product contains rapidly biodegradable hydraulic oils based on saturated ester liquids. "More and more governments and other clients are prescribing biodegradable oils," says Anslijn. "They see that some oil still sometimes wants to leak into the soil, for example due to hose breakage. Our oil is not harmful to the environment: 75% degrades within 28 days, even more than required by the OECD 301B Directive. That prescribes 60%."
Switching from mineral oils to biodegradable ones is easy, according to Anslijn. "MOTOREX is compatible with all common seals. This means that no modifications need to be made to a machine. And together with MOTOREX we issue - after free sampling of the oil - a declaration of miscibility with the current oil in the system. We then take over the manufacturer's warranty in black and white. Throughout the life of a machine, the oil no longer needs to be changed. So less downtime, less labor and much less use of harmful substances."
