HSE has top priority for foundation specialist in free and confined space

Terracon Funderingstechniek offers a wide range of solutions for large and complex foundation issues. The foundation specialist is used to always going the extra mile, as it gets a large part of its turnover from the industrial sector. That requires a slightly different approach to regular projects. And that is exactly what makes Terracon a leader in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) within the foundation sector.

"With the Tubex pile, we can guarantee a high level of quality and safety in both free height and confined space. With minimal impact on the environment and virtually no risks. A safer foundation system than this does not exist."

Strict security regime

We feel most at home on projects where a partnership is necessary because critical environmental factors call for it, Bas continues. "We are therefore critical of our clients and prefer to be treated as a construction partner. So that also means that we expect a professional client." Edwin de Ruijter, QHSE manager at Terracon, adds: "We are a critical partner acting at the very highest level of safety. We don't check off lists, but from our intrinsic motivation we maintain a high safety regime. Not just on paper, but actually thought through. And in this we go very far." This became clear once again during our Safety Week in early October.

Chemical shift

The foundation industry uses many hazardous substances. "After reviewing the risk inventory and evaluation (RI&E), we looked at which products/substances pose hazards to our employees and to the environment," Edwin explains. "We made an inventory list of the substances and applications of these products within our company. From this inventory list, together with Veidec, we created a replacement plan to eventually replace all substances to products that are friendly to people, animals and the environment. This makes us rightfully one of the forerunners in our industry, where we also very consciously include our partners and suppliers." 

Because working on safety is something you do together, Bas says. "We all face the same challenges in the industry. That is why it is important that dilemmas are discussed and addressed collectively. Only then will we move forward. The ultimate goal is to achieve a safe working environment throughout the chain." Edwin: "And that in a pleasant and equal cooperation. Foundation of Safety Culture, we call it."
