The main pillars of Manitowoc, a market leader in lifting equipment founded in 1902, are Grove mobile and all-terrain cranes and Potain quick-mount and tower cranes. With more than eighty new models in the past six years, the company can call itself a true pioneer and leader in terms of product development. Together with global financing options and aftermarket solutions, such as spare parts, service, training and reconditioning, it makes Manitowoc a very prominent player in the lifting world.
Manitowoc's extensive range of cranes can be found in many and varied places: in commercial construction and around infrastructure projects. But also in residential construction, industrial construction or petrochemicals. "Moreover, our diversified crane solutions are increasingly connected via telematics to the new applications Potain Connect and Grove Connect," says Wybe Smit, regional director for the Netherlands and Scandinavia for Potain. "And that is a very welcome added value in practice."
Manitowoc's Dutch branch is located in Breda. From here, sales are handled for both Grove and Potain. This branch also houses an extensive parts department and a workshop for the maintenance of mobile cranes. With regard to Potain's tower cranes, new and used sales are handled directly by Smit.
Service and aftermarket, including parts sales, are in the hands of his colleague Henrie Rooijakkers. "The rental of our tower cranes is done through our rental partner Multicrane International from Alphen aan den Rijn," Smit continued. "When it comes to the sale and rental of quick-assembly cranes, Van der Vlist Kraanverhuur, also based in Alphen aan den Rijn, proves its worth."
Thanks to Potain's diverse range of cranes, Manitowoc is able to offer the right crane for every project. Regardless of whether it's building a recreational home, a villa development, an apartment complex or a skyscraper, Potain has the right crane for it. From a hook height of 17 meters with a capacity of 700 kg at 20 meters to 26,000 kg at 85 meters, where hook heights above 100 meters are no exception.
A widely used solution is the Potain Igo 21 quick-mount crane with a hook height of 19.3 meters, a jib length of 26 meters and a maximum capacity of 1,800 kg (at 26 meters still 700 kg!). As for tower cranes, the Potain MDT 389 L16 (maximum capacity 16,000 kg, with a maximum jib length of 75 meters) and the Potain MDT 489 M25 (maximum capacity 25,000 kg with a maximum radius of 80 meters) are in high demand.
