Project Control (Project Controls) is a profession. A highly specialized profession that is not taught at colleges or universities. Primaned has mastered that profession for decades, and as a consultancy firm in Project Controls makes an important contribution to many leading projects in the infrastructure, petrochemical, energy and other sectors. With its new sister organization PROCON Professionals, organizations can now also effortlessly strengthen their project teams with experienced planners, risk analysts, document and cost controllers, data analysts and other project control specialists.
Project Controls is the technical part of project management that models, monitors, analyzes and visualizes project and process data. This provides insight into the project resulting in better management and control. "We operate in an absolute niche and primarily help organizations and companies through Project Controls in projects that are complex in scope, in technique and/or in quantity with many interfaces," said Paul Vogels, CEO of Primaned and PROCON Professionals. PROCON Professionals hitch a ride on Primaned's expertise and experience, providing additional commitment in the form of experts in project controls and data analytics. "A service that has been successfully received, given the tremendous growth in demand and complexity. The gains and efficiencies our experts deliver on projects is truly unimaginable."
By employing PROCON Professionals, organizations add experienced specialists to their teams at short notice. "Our PROCON Professionals implement all kinds of smart ideas to fly things faster, more efficiently and more safely. If necessary, they can then also call on our consulting departments or our own training center Primaned Academy. We are a full service provider in the field of Project Controls. That may be a very small part of project management, but that is where we want to be and remain the very best and smartest, and where we make a substantial difference. Our services pay off handsomely. In a complex project, the mitigation of a single risk or a process improvement can yield substantial savings in time, money and efficiency. It's actually quite crazy that project management is still an undervalued discipline," Paul believes.
Bas de Winkel, Talent Development Manager at PROCON Professionals, is one of the experts supporting project teams with Project Controls. He has gained extensive experience with various projects and clients at various organization and strengthens the PROCON team as Talent Development Manager. "Planning may be a mathematical trick and can even be done with pen and paper, but when you consider that there are projects with as many as 50,000 activities, software such as Primavera's is a breath of fresh air," Bas says with a laugh. "When a change or adjustment is made, in twenty seconds the entire schedule is calculated and you know, for example, what the impact is on the project." Paul adds: "And every step or change in the process is logged by the professional software, so that even afterwards you can always look back/prove when and why what changes were made."
Given the broad experience and knowledge in-house, PROCON Professionals trains all people in-house. "There is no training available in project management throughout Europe," Paul knows. "That's why we do it ourselves, using our Primaned Academy, of course. In two years we allow juniors to gain a healthy base of knowledge, talent and experience, so that after that period they can enter the market as medior. In addition, we discuss with each professional his/her strengths, preferences and ambitions, so that they continue to enjoy their work and end up on a suitable project. Together with colleague Steven Delemarre, also an experienced project manager who has led many a project and tender to success, they will manage and supervise our professionals. Steven, in his role as Manager of Operations, will supervise the more experienced colleagues in addition to, of course, remaining active in the field as a Senior PROCON Professional."
Paul concludes, "We have plenty of ambitions. We want to remain at the forefront as the specialist in Project Controls. Not only in the Netherlands, but also further into Europe. We already have an office in Germany and other countries will soon follow. This is a logical step, given the many international projects we are involved in, from North (Scandinavia) to South (Middle East) and from East (Japan) to West (USA)."
