Thinkproject acquires French Kairnial Group and accelerates European market leadership in building technology

Thinkproject today announced the acquisition of Kairnial Group, the French leader in the digital transformation of the construction industry. Together, the companies will accelerate the digitization of the construction industry so clients can deliver their projects more sustainably, punctually and cost-effectively. Thinkproject is Europe's leading SaaS provider in construction intelligence.

  • Thinkproject and French market leader Kairnial Group combine their offerings in advanced Common Data Environment (CDE), document collaboration, mobile BIM applications and Field Management for a sustainable intelligent construction industry
  • Together, the companies have more than 700 employees supporting more than 300,000 users as they move toward full end-to-end digitization of construction intelligence and processes
  • With the support of EQT and TA Associates, both companies aim to further accelerate customer growth and new regions

Headquartered in Lyon, Kairnial Group, with over 125 employees, serves 500 prestigious clients such as Bouygues Group, VINCI, Spie batignolles Group, Leon Grosse, Rabot Dutilleul, Icade, Nexity and ADP. The portfolio includes a mobile offering, a 2D/3D BIM viewer and site functionality, formerly known as Resolving. Kairnial also offers building demolition software and solutions that increase sustainability and reduce CO2 emissions.

Growth in new regions

The acquisition of Kairnial provides complementary functionalities to Thinkproject's existing SaaS suite. In addition, Thinkproject increases its presence in France and strengthens its European position. The combined company will drive growth in new regions and can further strengthen its leading position as the largest independent construction platform in the European construction technology industry.

End-to-end digitization

Together, the companies aim to better serve the needs of their customers and further accelerate end-to-end digitization in the construction industry by covering the entire asset lifecycle during the design, planning, construction and operation phases. By pursuing this holistic platform approach, Thinkproject and Kairnial are supporting their clients to work in an increasingly sustainable manner and enabling them to plan more accurately to reduce project delays and waste.

Complementary products

Thinkproject CEO Patrik Heider sees construction and infrastructure as its biggest growth drivers for global GDP. "But productivity improvement of construction workers is the lowest compared to other industries," said Heider. "The construction industry is looking for a trusted and experienced digitization partner with deep industry knowledge based on 20 years of experience. With the support of our shareholders EQT and TA Associates, Thinkproject aims to provide the best construction intelligence solutions for all employees and global customers. This partnership provides Thinkproject with complementary products and together we offer a leading Common Data Environment (CDE) with document collaboration, mobile BIM applications and Field Management. We are excited to welcome our new colleagues from the Kairnial Group to the Thinkproject family."

Integration of technology and data services

Kairnial Group CEO Franck Meudec said, "With Thinkproject, we have a partner with similar vision and values as a strong foundation for our collaboration. With their digitalization, our customers and the construction industry will benefit from the strong integration of our technology and data services. With this partnership, we are now able to offer Kairnial's solutions to many regions including Germany, UK, Benelux, Northern Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East. This transaction provides additional finance, resources and competencies that complement each other. Kairnial has been a pioneer in mobile BIM viewers since 2003. We are at the threshold of a new era for the construction industry," said Meudec.
