Since June 25, 2021 the Piet Hein tunnel is closed for all traffic, except for streetcar line 26. The tunnel will be thoroughly renovated and provided with new systems and installations. Lommers Welding Service will engineer the new bridge to size, realize it according to the NEN-EN 1090 and assemble it.
"For the Piet Hein Tunnel, we are realizing the new cover gap on the sheet piling structure," says Gerda Lommers of Lommers Welding Service. "In doing so, we came up with an alternative to the initial design. This is because the misalignment of the sheet piling and front structure was not included in the design of the new cover gap. Our 'in house' engineering firm Kok & van den Heuvel recorded the situation on site and engineered the construction in such a way that it was also feasible and mountable, whereby the existing fencing could also be used again by MABA Waterland. So our strength lies in the total concept. We like to think along in the preliminary process already in possible improvements to come to a 100% appropriate final result."
Lommers Welding Service is at home in all markets: from welding according to NEN-EN 1090 execution class 1, 2, 3 and 4, performing welding repair work, cutting and (de-)assembly to building and renting floating pontoons and work rafts.
