75 years ~ in 1946 Josef Severin Ahlmann (1924-2006) founded his company ACO on the grounds of the Carlshütte in Rendsburg Germany. The youngest son of married couple Julius and Käte Ahlmann began with structural elements and windows made of concrete, followed by the first line drainage channels in the 1960s.
In the 1970s, ACO first crossed national borders with the innovative polymer concrete line channels ACO DRAIN®. In the early 1980s, Severin Ahlmann gradually handed over responsibility to his nephew Hans-Julius Ahlmann, who has since successfully shaped growth, diversification and internationalization.
The ACO family business is currently growing into the next generation: the present and future of the ACO Group are currently represented by Hans-Julius Ahlmann and his son Iver, who officially joined the management board of ACO Ahlmann SE & Co. in 2012. KG (formerly ACO Severin Ahlmann GmbH & Co. KG) as managing partner. Iver Ahlmann takes entrepreneurial responsibility and ensures ACO's identity as a family business in the future.

In the Netherlands, the roots of the ACO Group go back to 1965, the year when Passavant BV - which has been part of the ACO Group since 2000 - became active. In 2004, the current ACO BV was formed from the merger with the 1989 Barneveld-based ACO Drain. ACO BV is based in Doetinchem and works the Dutch market with a team of over 40 employees.
